Mike Kisner has always been an aggressive gatherer of elite Charolais genetics. Back- water Jack is a prime example of his dedication to be elite at any cost. Backwater Jack’s donor dam was a partnership purchase with Grand Hills Cattle in a past Embry- os On Snow in Denver costing them $49,000 for one-half interest. She was slapped the National Reserve Grand Champion the following day, and secured the 2017-2018 Show Female of the Year title shortly thereafter. About the same time Mike was in a group that contended for PVF Ridge 7142 when he sold as a yearling for $92,000. He was able to scrounge a straw of Ridge semen and made one grade three embryo flushing Dory. That single low-grade embryo developed a story for the ages. Mike knew he had a great one and he wanted to show the rest of the breed. The 2021 Denver National Western Stock Show was canceled due to the pandemic. At the elev- enth-hour Oklahoma City stepped forward and put together the National Charolais Show & Sale. The Nationals started with the Pen-of-Bulls show and Wild Indian Acres surprised everyone by being named the Grand Champion Pen with Backwater Jack
