the CEO and have never looked back. What were some of your early goals and did anything happen in your career / pro- fession to change them? Like any 25 year old, I needed to earn a living and carve out a place for myself in the world. I got a chance to manage real estate and grewmy career from there. What unique qualities and or personality do you feel makes you most successful in your profession? Going to work every day with a positive attitude is my key.

We deal with each issue as it comes up and develop solutions to get to the closing -- plain and simple. What challenges and or obstacles do you feel you needed to overcome to be- come as successful as you are today? Most of my business challenges have been market driven. Be- cause we have long term rela- tionships with our clients and lenders, we are immediately aware of how changing market conditions affect both of their businesses. We give honest as- sessments, immediately find

new options and move forward. Do you feel being a woman is an advantage in today’s business world? Why? Why not? My industry is still dominated by men but I’m comfortable be- ing one of the guys. A lot of men don’t expect a woman to play at their level, so I generally leave them pleasantly surprised. Do you feel there are any differences in the way that men and women develop business relationships and if so, what activities or venues do you participate in? I find that there’s not as much of a ‘good old boys network’ as in the past. In today’s world, both men and women just want to get the job done. I don’t play golf or smoke cigars but I do like to celebrate with a nice dinner when we close a deal. The only difference is I order chardonnay over scotch. Tell us a little about your family. I have two sons, Brad and Brian – both avid golfers. Brad is a Senior Sales Associate for Neuberger Berman in NYC and Brian is an accounting major at Boston University. My husband, Ralph, is a CPA and Managing Director for The Green Group, ironically the same firm that gave me my start. Yes, that’s where we met and have been married for 25 years. We are dog lovers and currently have three. Jake, our Pomeranian, comes to work with me and is our official mascot. If you are the primary care- giver to your children what obstacles and challenges do you meet on a day to day basis? I’ve always been a hands- on mom. Sure, I might have missed a little league game along the way, but looking back I am proud to say I was there for major milestones. Owning your own company gives you that freedom. Our boys are now adults and we really enjoy spending time with them and seeing them pursue their own careers and interests. Hopefully someday there will be grand- children to spoil but we’re not rushing that. Who do you feel was most influential in your life when choosing this profession? I would have to say Len Green, founder and president of The Green Group. At an early age, he gave me the chance to represent continued on page 16D
