design, transit-oriented de- velopment, urban downtown redevelopment, planning and programming of Class A luxury multi-family buildings and global industry trends. I’ve also been invited as a guest lecturer at the Wharton School of Busi- ness, allowing me to share my knowledge about real estate with the next generation of industry professionals. What advice would you give to women just start- ing out in commercial real estate: Use the fact that you stand out as a stepping stone for cre- ating meaningful relationships within the real estate and re- lated industries because like it or not, given the relative small number of women in our field, you are going to be remem- bered, one way or the other. Additionally, and this applies to men and women alike, go to as many industry conferences and panels that you can - its important to be seen and to see what others are doing. Work/Life balance: I’ve been fortunate to develop and sustain legitimate and well-rounded relationships with the people I do business with. However, I also have close friends from various parts of my life with whom I remain in regular contact, and I value time spent with my family. Strongest influence on your career: Most likely I would have to say my grandma. At the age of 91, she only recently retired from her role as a professor at FIT and is still working with the school to issue a new revi- sion to the textbook she wrote. Her professional demeanor, constant love of knowledge and desire to excel is something that has been instilled into me from a very young age. Impa c t o f s o c i a l networking: The beauty of my position is that I walk in many forms of life including working with fi- nancial, operational, mechani- cal, technical and marketing professionals of the highest order. Social media has made blending my social and profes- sional lives incredibly fruitful, and has helped me develop as an executive by making con- nections that allow me and my company to be more effective and productive. Oh, and once in a while a friend buys and apartment from me. ■

start of vertical construction on over 650 apartments along North Jersey’s Hudson River Waterfront, all of which are pursuing LEED Silver certifi- cation. Most notable project, deal or transaction in 2012: During the first quarter of 2012, in partnership with Hartz Mountain, we broke ground on the Estuary, a 589-unit LEED Silver luxury rental complex along the Hudson River in Wee- hawken. This $225M develop- ment transforms what was for years an underutilized surface parking lot, into a highly ame-

nitized community comprised of three different buildings with expansive panoramic views of the Hudson River. Contribution to company or industry: My daily responsibilities span so many disciplines, bridging together profession- als from a wide range of seg- ments of the industry such as municipal agents, contractors, design professionals, brokers, and residents. I find it very re- warding to participate in many conferences and panels that ad- dress the needs of those diverse audiences including technical
