EVENT FOCUS OFC 2023

OPTICAL FIBER COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE 2023, 5th - 9th March 2023 San Diego Convention Centre, San Diego, California, USA

Show Floor Programming takes place in three theatres, featuring presentations by experts from major global brands and key industry organisations, offering high-level takes on hot topics and market trends, plus more than 15 additional show floor programs that cover market trends and new technologies from global brands and industry leaders. Market Watch is a three-day series of panel discussions highlighting the latest application topics and business issues in the field of optical communications. Presentations and panel sessions feature guest speakers from industry, research and investment communities. Network Operator Summit is a dynamic program presenting the inside perspective from network operators and service providers, their issues, business drivers and how network requirements impact the future of the industry. Everyone in the supply chain, from equipment to component manufacturers, will want to hear what’s next in meeting the demand of the industry’s network operators. Data Center Summit focuses on next generation optical technologies for intra and/or inter data centre connectivity. Evolving data centre requirements and challenges will be discussed as they pertain to equipment, technologies, applications and deployment scenarios. Special Events encourage visitors to make the most of their attendance at OFC with a range of networking and educational events. Special events range from receptions to career development programs.

OFC is to fibre optics, what the Mobile World Congress is to mobile communications, namely the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals in the world. The program is comprehensive; from research to marketplace, from components to systems and networks and from technical sessions to the exhibition. OFC draws attendees from all corners of the globe to meet and greet, teach and learn, make connections and move the industry forward. OFC 2023 is no different. With both physical and virtual elements, this year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever. The five-day, technical conference features peer-reviewed presentations and more than 120 invited speakers, representing thought leaders from across the industry. Additional technical programming throughout the week includes symposia, special sessions, short courses, demo zone, show floor programs and special events. These include: Symposia , comprised of invited and contributed papers, on areas deemed to be of special interest to OFC conference attendees. Special Sessions that provide convivial, interactive, open fora to address topics not covered by traditional presentations, but that are of interest and importance to the OFC community. The Demo Zone , featuring live demonstrations of research projects and proof-of-concept implementations in the space of optical communications devices, systems and networks.

LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS With so much going on, it’s often difficult for visitors to pick which exhibits, workshops, demonstrations and presentations to take in, however anything which looks at the future of the industry and new developments in technology is bound to be worth paying attention to. The live demonstrations by four industry-leading organisations, COBO (Booth #5501), Ethernet Alliance (Booth #5417), OIF (Booth #5101) and Open ROADM (Booth #6341) are a case in point. Technology areas to be showcased include Co-Packaging architectures, Common Electrical I/O (CEI) architectures and Common Management Interface Specification (CMIS) implementations, traffic transiting over Ethernet speeds of 10GbE through 800GbE, while connecting to multiple booths via the OFCnet to showcase the cohesive 400GbE, Open ROADM MSA compliant optical transport network with mesh topology and 400ZR. All technical program sessions will be available for live and on-demand viewing; the show floor program will only be available on-demand. THE EXHIBITION Last but certainly not least is the exhibition, which runs from 7 -9 March. The show floor will be buzzing with new product announcements and what’s trending in the market. Hundreds of exhibitors will keep visitors current on all the latest products and innovative solutions. It’s the premier showcase for exhibiting companies to present network equipment and software, active and passive components, test and manufacturing equipment, data centre/IT products and cable and fibre. It’s the place where buyers can compare and contrast vendors so they can make vital technology decisions in one place.
