Essential skills, knowledge and experience Skills: • Able to combine effective strategic thinking with hands-on organisational and administrative capability. • Strong knowledge of building maintenance ideally within a heritage site. • Health and safety and compliance skills and familiarity with fire, security and safe systems of working. • Excellent communication skills, both in person and the written word, with the ability to train teams and ensure whole organisation is fully aware of planned programmes of work. • An effective leader, with a record of motivating a large team of staff and collaborating across the organisation. • Good self-manager – natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. • Ability to develop policies and strategies for the organization and departments and to manage, monitor and evaluate their implementation, particularly compliance. Knowledge: • Relevant professional qualifications or demonstrable relevant experience in areas of buildings maintenance and engineering plus compliance & health and safety. • Knowledge of/interest in historic buildings conservation. • Financially literate with good attention to detail and target orientated.
Experience: • A proven track record of setting and achieving budgets to agreed KPIs / targets. • A proven record of leading integrated site management including presentation and conservation of buildings and implementation of safe systems of working and organisation-wide health and safety policies and processes. • Experience in leading and directing maintenance life cycle programmes, particularly in sensitive listed buildings and working with external project teams & consultants, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. Package: • Salary of up £65,000 depending on experience • 12% pension contribution
