464 and had to go through another experi ence in Honolulu which deepened his conviction until the worker was led to the ship to present Christ and press home the decision. How a Little Cricket Preached He said one night he and other sailors became drunk. He did so to drown con viction and, rather than go back to the ship, decided to go somewhere out of doors to sleep off his drunkenness, and then return. He wandered about in that condition for some time, until he found a place away from houses and habitation, and lay down. Just as he did so, a cricket began to chirp. He was under conviction and could not stand it, getting up to leave; but as soon as he stood on his feet, the cricket stopped. He stood still, moved a few feet and lay down to rest again. The cricket began again and “ talked to him.” He felt miserable before God and under conviction, yet the little cricket did not scare him away. It only “ spoke up” when he lay down. He slept and woke up late the next day to find that he had slept near the yawning edge of a high cliff. A few feet more, and he would have lost his life. God spoke to hig soul, and he realized that God in His mercy kept him from falling to his death in that condition. “ Had the cricket not stopped when I got up, I would.have gone further to find a more quiet place; but God saved my life." Was this not a remarkable leading and preparation, so as to enable the man to accept Christ after that experience? A Day on a Japanese Liner Now another happy occurrence of last month. Since peace conditions ushered in a new phase of life in our Harbor; it was our burden to begin again the meetings on board ships with the aid of foreign helpers. A Japanese liner was due and with its several hun dred passengers offered a fine oppor tunity. We had prayed for God to raise up a competent Japanese helper, and having learned of one, wanted to get in touch with him, when suddenly the young fellow himself was met on the water front near the ferry. A time was arranged. Two other friends had spoken to us, expressing a desire to go with us, and permits were obtained for them in a remarkable way, while the captain was interviewed in regard to a place to have the service. Soon the service was started and was attended by a large, at-

THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S tentive audience who hung on to every word the messenger of God had to say. Men standing, looking eagerly and lis tening intently, were a revelation to the two workers who had never seen a service on board ship before. Not one man or woman (the latter standing with their babies on their backs) left, and upon giving the invitation to accept Christ, a large number raised their hands— a wonderful sight! Then the literature,— Gospels of John and tracts in Japanese and Chinese,—were dis tributed and eagerly received. Finally all over the ship, wherever one looked, one, two, three or more persons could be seen sitting and reading the liter ature. In the Chinese quarters of the ship also a wonderful time was had, men receiving the printed page, and eagerly reading the same. Many, however, were gambling and one of the workers asked a Chinese: “ John, what are they doing?” This fellow said: “ Gamble! No happy.” When Chinese texts were stuck up in conspicuous parts of the ship, a great crowd watched from down below, up above and everywhere; and the burden of the message to these heathen hearts as proclaimed from God was: “ And the times 6f this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent; because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead,” and “Who His Own Self bare our sins in His Own Body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.” Pray for these people. Only three Christians were among three hundred men and women when we first met them. OSCAR ZIMMERMAN, Superintendent. jWi. ¿tfo. THE BIBLE WOMEN ' Won From a False Cult A lady tarried very much later than usual in a down-town business office and this gave the opportunity for an other business woman to find her there and invite her to a Bible Class. She at tended the class but still continued her attendance at the Christian Science
