Church. Week by week she alternated, going first to the Science Church and then coming to the Bible Class. One day the leader closed the class with an earnest prayer that some one would, that very day, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. As soon as the class was over, this lady fallowed the teacher out of the room and said, “ Well, I am the answer to your prayer.” Such is the marvelous power of God’s Word to win one back from the error of a false cult! Just a Word on the Way Riding one day in a suburban train, the worker was definitely directed by the Lord to take a seat beside a sad faced little woman. Beginning a con versation with her, the topic soon turned very naturally to her great sorrow. She had a daughter in the insane asylum because of the wicked life of the daugh ter’s husband. The poor mother had come from the East and was stopping with the only relatives here, Christian Scientists. The little woman was strengthened by a bit of Christian fel lowship and given strength to go back t6 her unsympathetic relatives. The name and address were taken to permit of future correspondence. Both women felt the kind hand of the Lord in bring ing them together, and as the mother stepped off the train in the darkness, she looked up smiling through her tears and waved back another, “ Thank you!” The Word and Spiritism “ The great need of all believers, in these days when Satan has snared so many through fads and fancies, is that they may be built up in the faith. This can only be done through the teaching of /the Word of God.” At one of our classes we were search ing the Scriptures to find the teaching of the Lord concerning Spiritism. Many of the members expressed the opinion that, if there was no other verse in the Bible than Deut. 18:12, “ For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord,” it was sufficient for them to have nothing to do with it. One little woman who had intended that week to buy a Ouija Board, “ just to amuse the family,” said: “ I am so glad wet had that lesson today, as I had no idea of the danger of these things or that they were displeasing to the Lord. I shall take care that no Ouija Board comes into our home.” How many homes and lives are being ruined today by this thin end of Satan’s wedge.
SELLING CHRIST Are you engaged to a Roman Cath olic? Are you thinking of having a priest marry you? Before doing so read this mixed-marriage agreement. Please observe that, when a priest performs the ceremony and one of the parties is a Protestant, the latter must sign the following agreement: “ I, the undersigned, being desirous of contracting marriage with........before a Catholic priest duly authorized by a special dispensation from His Grace the Archbishop of New York, do promise, in presence of the Reverend Father........, and of........, witness attending for that purpose, that all the children born of my marriage with ........ shall be ' bap tized and educated in the Catholic re ligion, and, moreover, that I will, by no means whatsoever, hinder or obstruct the said........in the exercise of the said religion; I also promise that in the sol emnization of my marriage there shall he only the Catholic ceremony. In tes timony whereof I have signed this doc ument in the presence of Reverend......... and the said witness, ........ on this day of the month of.................. 19 Signature........1............. ........... ” A man who will go before a priest and sign such a pledge, solemnly prom ising that the children God may give him shall be t£#ught and shall grow up surrounded by false teachings, which he can neither accept nor believe, with no effort on his part to lead them into the truth as he knows it, is unworthy the name of a man; and a woman who will do this has lost the last spark of true womanliness. Such persons cannot but despise themselves for signing an agree ment no honest Protestant could sign. -—Rev. G. R. Macfane.
