King's Business - 1920-05

503 the crowd was very great, and when Saul’s name was called he could not be found any where, and even though they looked for him, they could not find him. It was easy to pick Saul out even in the big crowd for he was a head and shoul ders taller than anybody else among all the people. Although he was such a big man he was bashful and was hiding, so when he could not be found, they asked the Lord about him and the Lord told Samuel he was hiding, and then they brought Saul from his hiding place. Samuel said to them, See the_man whom the Lord hath chosen; there is none like him among all the people. And the people all shouted and said, God save the king! Now you see Saul did as his father asked him and went in search of the lost animals and even though he did not find them, he received a great honor, and when Samuel told him that God had chosen him he was willing to be made king, and our mem ory verse is such a splendid one, and if we will do what it says, God will bless and honor us. • Let us >say it over until we know it. I will hear what God the Lord will speak. God speaks to us out of His word today, and each time we have one of these Bible stories it Is God’s word to us, and then if we truly hear them, we will want to do what they say every day in our homes, at school and in our play. Closing Prayer: Dear Jesus, help Thy little children to want to hear God’s word and do all that it says.

THE K I N G ’ S B US I NE S S for the lost burros, but after they two had traveled a long way and could not find the lost animals, Saul said they had better go back, because his father would be wondering what had become of him, but they were near a city, and the servant told Saul there was a Prophet of God whose words always came true. The servant meant Samuel, and they said perhaps the prophet could tell them which way to go to find the lost animals, so Saul and the servant started up the hill to the city .to see Samuel the Prophet, and as they were entering into the city, Samuel met them. Now God had told Samuel that He was going to send a man to him that day who was to be king of His people Is rael. When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him this was the man he had told him about. Then Samuel invited Saul and his servant to dinner with him to stay that day and night. Samuel also told Saul not to think any more about the lost burros for they had been found. Then the Prophet Samuel took Saul alone and told him what God had told Samuel about Saul to be king of Israel, God’s people. Then Samuel poured oil upon Saul’s head and anointed him; this was always done to one who was to be made king, so Sam uel anointed Saul that he might be king, because the Lord had told' him to do so. But no one knew of it except Saul and Samuel, for the Lord did not want the people to know until He should choose Saul again, before all the people, for their king. After this Samuel talked to the people telling them how good God had been to them in setting them free from their enemies, and that now they were not willing to have God rule over them any longer, but had asked for an earthly king. Samuel also told the people that while God was choosing an earthly king yet it would be as well for them as when He (God) was their king. Then Samuel gathered the people all together in one city and
