An act to amend Section 1240 of the Education Code, relating to public schools, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately. AB 959, Hadwick. Teacher credentialing: admin- istrative services credential: internship program. Authorizes a county office of education (COE), a school district, or a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) to offer a one-year intern- ship program for candidates for a preliminary admin- istrative credential, and requires the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to examine its pre- service, professional development, and supervision requirements for these internship programs when it next considers administrative services credential pathways. An act to amend Section 44270 of the Education Code, relating to teacher credentialing. AB 962, Hoover. Pupil safety: comprehensive school safety plans: use of smartphones. Authoriz- es a prohibition on smartphone use of a student in the case of emergency or in response to a perceived threat of danger, if that circumstance is explicitly ad- dressed in a comprehensive school safety plan. An act to amend Section 48901.7 of the Education Code, relating to pupil safety. AB 1005, Davies. Drowning prevention: public schools: informational materials. Makes several changes to the authorizations and requirements of drowning or injury prevention organizations that provide informational materials to local education- al agencies. Requires the California Department of Education (CDE) to compile and make available on its website school- based water safety and drowning prevention educational resources for public use. An act to amend Section 51140 of, and to add Sec- tions 51139, 51141, and 51900.1 to, the Education Code, and to add Section 116036 to, and to add Chap- ter 4.6 (commencing with Section 131359) to Part 1 of Division 112 of, the Health and Safety Code, relat- ing to drowning prevention. AB 1009, Blanca Rubio. Teacher credentialing: administrative services credential: occupational and physical therapists. Authorizes occupational therapists (OTs) and physical therapists (PTs) to be eligible for a preliminary administrative services credential. An act to amend Section 44270 of the Education Code, relating to teacher credentialing. AB 1028, Fong. Community colleges: temporary employees. Requires, if a governing board of a com- munity college district decides to terminate a part- time faculty, the governing board to comply with the procedures for termination as delineated in the com- munity college’s collective bargaining agreement with part-time faculty. An act to amend Section 87665 of the Education Code, relating to community colleges. AB 1034, Ávila Farías. Teacher credentialing: programs of professional preparation: youth mental health. This bill requires that a program of profes- sional preparation for a multiple or single subject
tion laws to investigate and remediate the action; (3) requires instruction and instructional materials to be factually accurate, align with the adopted curriculum and existing standards for instructional materials, and be consistent with accepted standards of profes- sional responsibility; (4) authorizes the California Department of Education (CDE) to require specified corrective action be taken by LEAs; and, (5) requires specified corrective action be taken by organizations contracted to provide instructional or professional development materials if those materials are found to violate specified provisions of this bill. An act to amend Sections 244, 262.3, 48980, 51500, 51501, and 60151 of, to add Section 60152 to, to add Article 11 (commencing with Section 280) to Chap- ter 2 of Part 1 of Division 1 of Title 1 of, and to add Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 33800) to Part 20 of Division 2 of Title 2 of, the Education Code, re- lating to education. AB 727, Mark González. Pupil and student safety: identification cards. Requires public schools serving students in grades seven to 12, inclusive, as well as public institutions of higher education (IHEs) that issue student identification (ID) cards which include printed contact information for the Trevor Project’s LGBTQ+ suicide hotline. An act to amend Section 215.5 of the Education Code, relating to pupil and student safety. AB 772, Lowenthal. Cyberbullying: off-campus acts: model policy. Requires the California De- partment of Education (CDE), on or before June 1, 2026, to adopt a model policy on how to address reported acts of cyberbullying that occur outside of school hours and requires local educational agencies (LEAs) to adopt the resulting policy or a similar poli- cy developed with local input. An act to add Section 234.41 to the Education Code, relating to educational equity. AB 784, Hoover. Special education: specialized deaf and hard-of-hearing services. This bill clarifies that specialized deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) services may be the only services included in a stu- dent’s individualized education program (IEP). An act to amend Section 56031 of the Education Code, relating to special education. AB 821, Gipson. Pupil instruction: high school graduation requirements: career technical educa- tion. Eliminates the sunset on the authorization to use completion of a course in career technical edu- cation (CTE) to fulfill a course requirement to grad- uate from high school. An act to amend and repeal Section 51225.3 of the Education Code, relating to pupil instruction. AB 927, Sharp-Collins. County superintendent of schools: inspection of public schools. Extends the timeline by which county superintendents of schools must visit and complete the textbook and instruc- tional materials review of the schools identified for inspection, from within the fourth week of the school year to within the eighth week of the school year; and 2) requires the prioritization of schools to be re- viewed, as specified. Includes an urgency clause in order to ensure a sufficient timeframe to conduct the
