Employment: unlawful discrim- ination: victims of violence. Makes technical and conforming amendments to Labor Code and Govern- ment Code sections to clarify timelines for enforce- ment by the Civil Rights Department (CRD) and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) regarding employee protections for victims of crime and family members of victims of crime related to AB 2499 (Schiavo, Chapter 967, Statutes of 2024). An act to add and repeal Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 13850) of Division 3 of the Insurance Code, relating to insurance. 2025 Senate Insurance Laws SB 429, Cortese. Wildfire Safety and Risk Mitiga- tion Program. This bill, upon appropriation, estab- lishes the Wildfire Safety and Risk Mitigation Pro- gram, administered by the California Department of Insurance (CDI), for the purpose of guiding and funding the development and deployment of a pub- lic wildfire catastrophe model. Creates the Wildfire Safety and Risk Mitigation Account within the In- surance Fund to support this purpose. Requires CDI to publish information on its website regarding the progress and plan to complete the model. Specifies that CDI will provide recommendations to certain committees of the Legislature, and the Governor for budget allocations related to the purpose of the pro- gram. An act to add Article 12 (commencing with Section 970) to Chapter 1 of Part 2 of Division 1 of the Insur- ance Code, relating to insurance. SB 495, Allen. Insurance. This bill, in the event of a covered total loss of a dwelling resulting from a state of emergency, requires insurers to offer 60 percent of the personal property policy coverage limit, up to $350,000, without an itemized claim from the poli- cyholder. Extends the deadline for a policyholder to provide the insurer with proof of loss from 60 to 100 days following the loss. Expands the data collection authority of the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and its reporting responsibility to include in- formation from certain insurers regarding reinsur- ance and use of catastrophe models. An act to amend Sections 2051.5 and 10103.7 of, and to add Article 10.85 (commencing with Section 937) to Chapter 1 of Part 2 of Division 1 of, the Insur- ance Code, relating to insurance. SB 525, Jones. California FAIR Plan: manufactured homes. Requires the California Fair Access to Insur- ance Requirements (FAIR) Plan to cover manufac- tured homes and mobile homes.
