Sustainable Mobility

Sustainable Corporate Travel

Vehicle Fleet Electrification and Management

We have updated our Business Travel Policy to guide decision-making on business travel, balancing operational needs with environmental considerations. We prioritise virtual platforms and digital collaboration tools to reduce non-essential travel and associated emissions, particularly from air travel. The policy encourages sustainable travel practices and requires employees to choose cost-effective transportation and accommodation options while considering environmental impacts.

Sustainable Construction

Plant and Machinery Electrification

Transitioning our fleet to EVs is a core part of our decarbonisation strategy to reduce emissions from mobile sources. We currently operates over 45 electric private cars, which represents 24% of the private car fleet, for daily business operations. We remain committed to replacing fossil fuel-powered vehicles with electric alternatives.

Replacing traditional fossil fuel-powered machinery with electric alternatives is one of the fundamental pillars of our decarbonisation strategy to reduce emissions from stationary sources. It offers several environmental benefits, including reduced carbon emissions, improved air quality on construction sites, increased energy efficiency and decreased noise pollution. These enhances worker comfort and community relations.

Construction Technologies and Innovation

By leveraging digital project management systems, trenchless technologies, BIM and off-site construction, including DfMA, MiC and MiMEP, we can implement more environmentally responsible construction practices throughout the project life cycle in various projects. These enable us to reduce material and on-site waste, enhance resource efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. We build site offices using MiC whenever feasible.

Green Purchasing

Our Sustainable Purchasing Policy guides procurement decisions that reduce environmental harm and support environment-friendly practices.

Low-carbon Materials

To achieve sustainable production, we prioritise low-carbon materials made from recyclable materials or those with high recycled content in our projects whenever possible. For example, we use barriers and water barriers made from recyclable plastic and fences made from recycled materials.

Energy Conservation and Efficiency

To support this transition, we have installed charging stations at our headquarters and various site offices. This infrastructure supports our current EVs and paves the way for future expansion of our electric fleet.

Energy consumption is one of the major sources of carbon emissions, making energy management crucial for our decarbonisation efforts. We foster practices that enhance energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Site Office Wall Panels from Recycled Materials

Fleet Management and Eco-driving Promotion

Public Lighting Project

We have strengthened car pool arrangements through utilising a mobile app for booking and management, and prioritising electric private cars for pooled use and designated project assignments.

Site office in Lai Chi Kok uses wall panels made from recycled materials such as palm fibre waste, coal ash and slag. These materials generate only 10% of the carbon emissions produced by traditional cement during manufacturing.

Air- conditioning

• Optimise the temperature settings and start times • Install windows insulations to reduce direct sunlight and cooling demand • Enhance cooling with fans • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of systems, fan coil units and filters • Switch to LED lights and reduce excess lighting • Optimise lighting hours and apply lighting zones • Use motion sensors in common areas • Prioritise purchasing electronic and electrical appliances with higher energy efficiency

We are gradually increasing our use of machinery and equipment, such as handheld tools, electric boom lifts and electric forklifts. Where practical, we deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) on project sites to replace traditional diesel-powered equipment, supporting more sustainable energy management in our operations. Fossil fuel-powered machines are retained only for specialised applications where electric alternatives are not yet viable or operationally practical. We regularly review our plant and equipment and conduct market research to identify suitable candidates for electrification. As technology advances and becomes more cost-effective, we will continue exploring larger electric machinery options.

Lighting

Office Equipment

We organise eco-driving seminars to make employees and drivers aware of the impact of route optimisation and their driving behaviours on fuel conservation and vehicle efficiency. It provides them with tips on how to drive eco- efficiently.
