etheric and heavenly. All this is made possible through the benevolent intervention of the higher world, and knowing this— if I may humbly call it wisdom—is, without doubt, a priceless gift indeed. I look back and I see that my family had taught me inner confidence and stability at an early age. They had laid the foundation for my corporeal senses to be intact in a natural environment. I cannot help but compare that to the simulated world most children are forcibly being exposed to today. The most crucial time of their being (one to seven years old) is spent in enclosed spaces of virtual entertainment and computers, not to mention, toys made of plastic or synthetic materials, versus running and playing outdoors, feeling the sun and touching things in nature to stimulate their senses. The polarity of the “then and now” of childhood inspired me to do special exhibits of interactive artworks using nonendangered natural materials for the public to experience. I saw how that was a magnet to children; I was told parents were saying, “Let us bring them here instead of the mall.” The response clearly shows that there is an intense craving for another kind of human encounter that is certainly away from the material world. Cumulatively, all these aspects of my growth have helped me become the person that I am. They are the people, the teachers, whose influence will continue to play a pivotal role for the rest of my life, especially in my mission as an artist.
