Some Essays From The Book Teacher Teacher

why he became my favorite teacher. Dean Quirino, my teacher in all my engineering math subjects, made me feel relaxed in his classes and made the subject matter a lot easier to under- stand. Best of all, he motivated me to reach a goal higher than I could ever have imagined. His grading system, which was objective and transparent, was spelled out at the very beginning of each course, which enabled me to calculate my final grade even before the final exams (which I would normally be exempt from). I have had several memorable moments with Dean Quirino outside of the classroom. In my senior year in college, when I was working as a sales clerk for a paint company, he called me to his office and offered me the job of instructor, which I accepted. Because I liked his teaching style and system, I tried to apply them when I became a teacher myself. Our relationship became closer when I was proofreading his Analytic Geometry book. We used to go to the printer/publisher almost every week for several months and every time we would pass by a grocery “All I ask of you, as I did with all the others, is for you to do your best,” he said. It was the Dean’s gift of motivating others— that given the chance, all are winners. His belief in me and my fellow TIP alumni made all the difference.
