TIPQC, still relatively young, now enjoys autonomous status, the highest award bestowed on a school by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), while the 50-year-old TIP Manila has deregulated status from the CHED. TIP has come into its own—enjoying the autonomous status bestowed in December 2009 by the CHED on only 44 schools and deregulated status on only 14 schools out of 1,741 schools nationwide. Others would ask: By what right can TIP, an upstart, a late bloomer on the school scene, claim these high- est awards? Through the sheer grit and determination of its founder. And its new stewards.
At 68, he thought he could become a
recording star. He set up his own private recording studio and churned out more than 100 CDs and tapes of his renderings of Ilocano songs.
If his effectiveness as a teacher is to be gauged by the student outcomes or by how successful his student has become, then Papa should be given the highest marks. Because I, his firstborn and student, have brought TIP to the next level, with the help of the whole TIP community and TIP’s stakeholders.
