with thee shall perish . . . . ForT, the Lord thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee.” “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they fol low Me ; and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of My hand. My Father which gave them Me is greater than all ; and none is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” Blessed double-knowing and two-handed keeping of that great One, the Eternal Father and the Eter nal Son! O believer, lie down in the green pastures of the covenant and rest you. You are eternally safe; safe as the Almighty can make you. “The Lord knoweth them that are His.” We now come to the second line of the inscription. The first line, as the first everything, is for God, His part of the pledging, keeping and care taking ; the second line is for God’s child, for you, the bringing out into the actions of a renewed will of the God-given grace. 2. “Let them that name the Name of Christ depart from all iniquity You have named the name of Christ, have you thus departed from all iniquity? At the Cross you get more than peace, more than pardon. You get power, and without power peace would be nothing, without power pardon would be nothing. Is your life showing this dynamic side of the Christian life? You label your whirling and plunging engines to be of such and such a “power,” 50 horse power, TOO horse-power, 200, 300, and so on. I wonder at what power your Christ-life and my Christ-life would be reckoned and registered. I am afraid with many of us the power would need to be calculated not by so many horses, but by so many

flies! Very feeble the most of us are, God help us. Quite Liliputian our soul stature. The devil despises us, and well he might! Oh, for a bap tism of power! Oh, for the tarrying at Jerusalem for the enduement with power from on high! Oh, for the Divine vigor, for the Divine vis and strength of “Be strong in the Lord” in our dull, dead, leaden lives! All this is in the covenant; all this is really our right. It belongs to us, it is ours, mark you. Heart-namer. of the Name of Christ, to “trample in glorious confusion” on sin, death, devil and hell is really your birth right. When Joshua stayed the sun and moon in the valley of Ajalon, when he won the great battle of Gib- eon and got the five kings imprisoned in the cave of Makkedah, there was something more to be done that day. This. He brought out those kings and “called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” And on we read that “they that came near and put their feet on the necks of them.” The word becomes work; the command be comes completion. So you, child of God. Our Joshua-Jesus has con quered in the mighty onslaught of Gethsemane, Golgotha and Calvary’; the hosts of hell with their leader Apollyon hath He cast into chains. “Ah! me,” you say, “but the chains though are terribly long! They let the devil have plenty of loose fling to fly in fury at my poor soul.” Yes, his chains are long, but they are long to let him out of the cave for the press of your heel on his vanquished neck! Jesus calls you to put your foot on your every prostrate foe/ Do not trip it gingerly or tread it lightly there, my friend. Press down and kick out in the infinite contempt of the departer from all inquity. Have
