Metro New Jersey Chapter 2013 President, Paul W. Korch, MAI
Metro NJ Chapter Appraisal Institute 2013 Chapter Officers
The Metro NJ Chapter made a smooth transition to the Appraisal Institute’s new Business Model through networking events and assistance from the Candidate Guidance Chairs.
President Paul W. Korch, MAI
The chapter continues to offer an extensive education curriculum for appraisers in the tri-state area for qualifying education and continuing education. In addition, the chapter is offering Advanced Income Capitalization, scheduled for December. This course can be used for elective credit for licensing, Advanced Continuing Education for Designated Members or Advanced Education required for designation. This year is a recertification year and there are several options to satisfy CE and USPAP: There is a chapter dinner meeting on September 26th, the Fall Conference on October 25th, two great seminars in October and November, and the 7-Hour USPAP course in December. To check out the education offerings scheduled for the rest of 2013 and the first half of 2014, visit the national website at www.appraisalin- stitute.org, click the education tab and choose education offerings by chapter, and scroll to Metro NJ. You can also download the meeting information and Fall Conference Brochure on our website at www.ai-newjersey.org. The chapter’s communication committee chairs are keeping the chapter’s Facebook and Twitter accounts active with blogs and announcements for upcoming events. Please keep an eye out for these notifications. New Jersey was faced with the most challenging Government Relations activities to date. The Broker Price Opinion (BPO) bill has been the primary focus for the New Jersey Govern- ment Relations team. The Government Relations team is made up of members from the Metro NJ, Southern NJ and Northeast NJ chapters. There are other bills that are also under review that the Government Relations group will be guiding us on. The latest Government Relations articles can be found on the Metro NJ chapter’s website, www.ai-newjersey.org. I encourage chapter members and affiliates to stay informed, get involved, and communicate your ideas and thoughts on news that impacts appraisers throughout the state. At this time, I would like to thank and acknowledge all the Chapter Officers, Board of Directors, and the Committee Chairs and Members who have devoted their time and efforts thus far.
