Before the end of the year, The Nation Municipality approved a final proposed tax levy increase of $1,404,602 (9.51 per cent) during a special meeting held on Monday, December 16, 2024. The approval followed months of collabo- ration between council members and muni- cipal staff to address financial challenges while prioritizing the needs of residents. Throughout September, the municipality sought public input to shape the budget, including a community session where resi- dents voiced their concerns and ideas. The 2025 budget introduces a monthly property tax increase of $18.52 for residen- tial properties assessed at $300,000 by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). This increase is intended to help cover rising Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) fees, maintain current services, upgrade infrastructure, and build reserves for future needs. Additionally, the fire department charge will rise from $85 to $87.50 per property to support investments in firefi- ghting equipment and vehicles. The St-Isidore Eagles put up a strong fight against the high-flying Gatineau Hull-Volant in their first game back following the holiday break, but the top team ultimately secured the win. However, a victory against the Cumberland Castors two days later brought the Eagles back to an even record to kick off 2025. The Eagles opened the scoring against Gatineau on Friday, Jan. 3, at the Centre Slush Puppie, with Justin Cloutier (Jacob Levac) finding the net in the first period. Five minutes later, the Hull-Volant tied the game. The second period followed a similar pattern, with Gatineau scoring first on a powerplay. The Eagles answered back with a powerplay goal of their own, courtesy of Levac (Cedric Hughes), leveling the score before the end of the period. St-Isidore briefly took the lead in the third period when Maxime Patenaude (Levac) scored early, but Gatineau responded deci- sively. The home team netted five goals in the third period, interrupted only by a power- play goal from Hughes (Levac, Patenaude). Despite the effort, the Eagles fell short in a high-scoring 7-4 loss. Victory against the Castors Facing the Cumberland Castors on home ice proved to be a more favorable matchup for the Eagles, even in a low-scoring game. Alexis Gaudreau (Jean-Miguel Savage, Patenaude) opened the scoring in the first period, and Eloi Cayer (Yan Maisonneuve, Maxime Paquette) added another goal in

Il a également noté que les travaux de la nouvelle Résidence Prescott-Russell sur la rue Spence à Hawkesbury devraient être terminés cette année afin qu’elle puisse ouvrir ses portes au début de 2026 pour les personnes âgées locataires de l’actuelle Résidence PR et pour les nouveaux loca- taires qui attendent des ouvertures dans l’établissement régional de retraite et d’aide à la vie autonome pour les personnes âgées.
Yves Laviolette, qui occupe pour la pre- mière fois le poste de président des Comtés unis de Prescott-Russell, est optimiste en ce début d’année. Une grande partie de son optimisme pro- vient du budget 2025 que lui et les autres membres du conseil des Comtés unis de Prescott-Russell (CUPR) ont approuvé en novembre dernier. Le budget 2025 comprend une augmentation de taxes de 3,3 % dans sa forme finale, soit un peu moins que la projection initiale de 4,66 %. « C’est acceptable, a déclaré le directeur de l’établissement, M. SCS is a not-for-profit bilingual organization managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We are seeking volunteers from within the Ottawa and Eastern Region. Ideal candidates have demonstrated experience with Board duties and governance issues and exhibit strong leadership and expertise in areas such as: • Human Resources; • IT; • Finance; • Public Relations; • Government Relations; • Marketing; • Community Leader; • DS Sector knowledge.
