Gratitude, Growth, and Giving Back FINDING JOY IN THE HOLIDAYS

November has always been one of my favorite times of the year, but this one feels especially meaningful because Asher turns 3. Like any parent, I blinked and somehow my baby boy turned into a full-blown toddler. To celebrate, we are bringing The Creature Teacher, an amazing group that lets kids meet animals up close. From mammals and reptiles to amphibians and birds, Asher and his friends can touch, learn about, and even pose for pictures with creatures they’ve likely never seen before. It’s going to be wild in the best way possible.

I am grateful for my family, especially Alison and Asher. I am grateful for our parents and the time we still have with them. I am grateful for our clients, who trust us during some of the hardest moments of their lives. I am grateful for our team that has worked so hard this year to fight for hundreds of injured clients and achieve incredible results. And I am grateful to be part of a community that proves its commitment by showing up year after year to feed, clothe, and care for those in need. My hope for you this holiday season is simple. I hope you will find joy in the little moments, strength in the hard ones, and purpose in giving to others. Hug your loved ones, be present, and know you are part of a community that makes a difference.

Moments like that remind me how quickly life moves. On one hand, I’m celebrating Asher growing up and discovering the world with fresh eyes. On the other, I’m aware my parents are aging. The holidays bring that contrast into focus, with new life, joy, and the reality that I don’t have unlimited holidays left with the people who raised me. It’s sobering and pushes me to hold tighter to every gathering, laugh, and hug. My encouragement to you is the same. Don’t let this season slip by without taking a moment to embrace the people you love. Time is precious, and none of us knows how many holidays we will be given. This year, our firm is again honored to partner with Mission Arlington. If you have never seen their work firsthand, it is remarkable. Last Thanksgiving, they served 6,953 families and 28,099 people. That’s not just numbers; it’s thousands of tables where food was shared and gratitude was felt because of the generosity of this community. At Christmas, Mission Arlington’s free Christmas Store provided toys and gifts to 26,481 children across 6,480 families, including bicycles that put smiles on the faces of kids who might otherwise have gone without. None of that happens without leadership. And I have to pause here to say that Ms. Tillie is one of the greatest people I have ever met. Her heart, grit, and relentless service inspire anyone who crosses her path. Our team will be there again this Thanksgiving, serving meals, sharing smiles, and being reminded what this season is really about. We’ll also volunteer at the Christmas Store, and between now and then, our office will collect toys to donate. If you want to join in, you can drop off a toy at our office, and we will make sure it goes straight to Mission Arlington and into the hands of a child who will treasure it. For me, this is what the holidays are all about. Yes, it’s about family dinners, gifts under the tree, and fun birthday parties with wild animals in the backyard. But even more, it is about slowing down, being grateful, and giving back.

From my family, our team, and all of us at Aulsbrook Law Firm, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

RETRO REMEDIES FOR A RADIANT HOME Clean Classics

Today’s home makeover

marketplace is full of high-tech goods and gadgets designed to keep your spaces clean. However, looking to the distant past reveals plenty of practical (and, in many cases, less expensive) options to bring your pad back to perfection. Here are three vintage cleaning tips that still work well today.

The holiday season has always meant more packages on the porch, but we’re getting more deliveries than ever. Everything from groceries and gifts to takeout can be brought to our doors. That’s great, but it also means that the roads are full of delivery drivers. Of course, most try to drive safely, but accidents still happen. Every year, there are over 19,000 large-truck crashes in Texas. Many involve delivery trucks, including those from major national carriers like FedEx and UPS. Delivery drivers often work overtime and are under pressure to move fast during the holidays. Add in the distractions from watching maps and delivery routes, and it’s not hard to see how accidents can happen. The same goes for drivers working through Uber and DoorDash. There are many independent contractors out there, and accidents are more common than people realize. So, who’s on the hook for damages when an accident occurs? That depends. If a commercial driver is involved, the company they work for will have its own liability insurance. For independent contractors, liability depends on whether they were on the clock and logged into the app at the time of the accident. If they were, the delivery platform’s insurance may apply. Otherwise, the driver’s personal insurance will handle the claim. Proving liability in these types of accidents can be challenging, though. Determining who’s at fault takes evidence; the sooner you gather it, the better. The police report forms the foundation of the case, but photos and witness statements can further support your claim. We’ve also used phone records, driver logs, and GPS data to help clients recover damages for their injuries. These cases can be complicated, and commercial insurance companies will do everything possible to deny you what you’re owed. That’s why you need an experienced legal team on your side. If you’ve been injured in an accident involving a delivery driver, don’t wait to get help. At Aulsbrook Law Firm, we’ll dig deep to investigate, gather evidence, and fight for your rights so that you’re not left paying for someone else’s mistake. INJURED BY A DELIVERY DRIVER? KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

Markers are no match for rubbing alcohol. Most parents encourage their children to explore their artistic

side. Still, the possibility of your little ones becoming future Picassos can become problematic if they use markers to turn your refrigerator, countertops, walls, or other nonporous surfaces into makeshift art galleries. Instead of shrieking in horror upon discovering their creations, reach for rubbing alcohol and apply it to a cloth. Rubbing the fabric on the scribbles will dissolve the pigments, making it easier to restore your child’s ad-hoc canvas to its original, clean condition. Of course, you may want to snap a few photos of your child’s art before wiping it away and consider purchasing more appropriate things for them to draw on! Mint will suppress summer stink. Although the air tends to cool off this time of year, summer will be here again before we know it. If heat and humidity make your garbage cans stink to high heaven, you can find the answer to overcoming the odor in your garden. Grow or purchase fresh mint and place a sprig in each can daily. You’ll be amazed by how quickly the stench goes away. Tidy pet hair without time travel. Pets bring joy and companionship to our lives, but their hair can do a real number on our rugs and upholstery. Interestingly, the secret to purging pet hair emerged nearly 80 years ago. In the May 1946 issue of Better Homes & Gardens, a reader recommended rubbing a wet rubber sponge on the affected areas, a process that rolls up the hair into easy-to-remove balls. A writer from the magazine decided to test this method last year and the decades- old directions still did the trick.

A DANGEROUS SEASON FOR TEXAS ROADS DRUNK DRIVING AND HOLIDAY HAZARDS The holidays are supposed to be a time of warmth and togetherness. But every year, families across Texas and the U.S. find themselves blindsided when a drunk driver causes a crash that changes everything. Nationwide, 37 people die in drunk driving crashes every day. However, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, that number spikes. Alcohol is everywhere during the holiday season, and people are more likely to get behind the wheel after a few drinks, thinking they’re fine. But data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that fatal alcohol-related crashes are about 27% more common during the holidays. Drunk driving cases don’t just involve criminal charges. For the injured and grieving, the civil side matters just as much. That’s where compensation for medical bills, lost income, and long-term impact comes from, but getting that compensation isn’t always simple. Sometimes, the driver flees the scene. Other times, they have no insurance. The bar or restaurant serving alcohol might even be held responsible. Texas dram shop laws allow for that, but only in specific situations.

We’ve seen how fast a celebration can turn into a nightmare. The physical recovery is hard enough, but the emotional toll lingers, too. That’s why it matters to work with a legal team that understands what’s at stake and how to gather the right evidence, from police reports and BAC results to witness accounts and crash reconstructions. If someone you love was hit by a drunk driver, don’t try to deal with it on your own. These cases take skill, time, and commitment to doing things right. We help clients across Texas take those steps every day, and we’re here to walk with you, too. Our team hopes your holidays are filled with peace, not pain. But if the unexpected happens, know you’re not alone.

Reimagine a Retirement Routine That Works for You

Cases We Handle: • Personal Injury • Wrongful Death

• Car Wreck • Truck Wreck

Retirement is a well-earned chapter in life, but transitioning to it can feel like stepping into the unknown. After decades of routines built around work, it’s easy to feel adrift. Fortunately, structure can go a long way in finding your freedom. Start With Purpose Waking up with something to look forward to is one of the simplest ways to infuse your day with purpose. Whether it’s reading the newspaper, taking a morning walk, or working toward a long-held dream, these purposeful starts add rhythm to your day. Set small goals that excite you: Learn a new hobby, volunteer in your community, or dive into a creative project you’ve always wanted to try. Learning and progress feel good at any age. Balance Planning With Play Planning isn’t about creating a rigid schedule; it’s about sprinkling your calendar with things you love. Doctor appointments and errands can sit comfortably beside lunch dates, gardening time, or a painting session. Mix the predictable with the spontaneous. After all, retirement is your time, so make it flexible and fun. Reimagine Your Routine Establishing new routines adds a sense of comfort and control. A consistent morning routine, complete with your favorite breakfast and a bit of movement, can kick-start your day with energy and intention. End your day with a relaxing ritual to wind down, reflect, or connect with loved ones. Keep It Fresh Avoid falling into autopilot mode. Challenge yourself to try something new regularly, whether exploring a new walking path, attending a local workshop, or picking up a new skill. Your retirement life should be anything but dull. This is your time to thrive!
