Integrity – Honoring Your Word
Our firm’s value that we will look at this month is integrity. Integrity provides powerful access to increased performance. Webster’s dictionary defines integrity as “a state or condition of being whole, complete, unbroken, unimpaired, sound, perfect condition.” To create a life of integrity starts with mindful living. It’s less about perfection, but being authentic to our values and beliefs. Once we become aware of the gap, we
Each of these cars performed long enough to get him home. When they would sit in the garage, he noticed some fluid leaking from underneath the cars. For the VW, it was a faulty gas line, and some issues with the carburetor. Both very important parts to have the car run with integrity. When the carburetor doesn’t work or is not tuned correctly, the car doesn’t start. My son-in-law replaced
his and had help from my grandsons. They lost a screw. The entire car was worthless until the screw was found. It just didn’t work. Don’t worry, they eventually found the screw! When it comes to integrity, our team has this mindset of “workability” concerning projects, reviewing workflow, and the overall business in general. We ask ourselves and each other, “Does this work?” And it comes from a stance, not of judgment, or shaming or condemning, but simply workability. We use this phrase to determine if we’re experiencing integrity. It’s a phrase that we all understand has a deeper meaning and allows us to look at areas where
can start making changes to close it. Integrity is a concept that can seem difficult to put into practice, but it’s as simple as being a person of your word and honoring promises. Practicing integrity creates trust between people since they know others will always act with sincerity, honesty, and honor. In everyday life, showing integrity can be as simple as keeping a promise to a friend, standing up
against bullying and injustice (which is what we do in our American Dream Experiences and through our ongoing coaching), or simply owning up to a mistake. Integrity isn’t always easy to live out in an ever-changing world full of gray areas and temptations that lead us astray. Steven Zaffron says, “Oversimplifying somewhat, ‘honoring your word,’ as we define it, means you either keep your word, or as soon as you know that you will not, you say that you will not be keeping your word to those who were counting on your word, and clean up any mess you caused by not keeping your word. By ‘keeping your word’ we mean doing what you said you would do and by the time you said you would do it.” This is the integrity we value. Transparency plays an important role — being open and honest with ourselves and those around us helps build trust, which leads to greater accountability for our actions and “honoring your word.” Taking on opportunities for self-reflection allows us to assess where we currently stand when it comes to practicing integrity and if anything needs improvement or further consideration before taking action. All in all, practicing integrity is key for building meaningful relationships. When we are people who honor our word as Zaffron has laid out, then life works. Think of it this way: My son-in-law has a love for older cars. Over the years he’s owned two VW bugs from the 1970s and a 1987 Dodge RAM Charger.
we have been not honoring our word. Are we perfect at it? No. Does it take some of the emotion out of given situations, especially stress-filled ones? Yes. Of course, there can be frustration (we’re still human), but by honoring our word and looking where we were out of integrity prevents us from placing blame on others or ourselves and allows us to work more cohesively as one unit. Understanding why honoring your word matters so much can help motivate us to embody it in every aspect of our lives — from simple day-to-day interactions all the way up through challenging situations — for lasting peace of mind and meaningful connections with those around us! If you want to read the paper Steve Zaffron wrote, we have posted it on our website. Each of our team members have read this and agreed to uphold this type of integrity. Each week we are going to share a new article on our blog about a historic woman and the impact she has had on our country. You can find these articles here: www.FieldLawPC.com/ blog or scan the QR code to take you there.
Join us to learn about the following women:

VAN GOGH REINCARNATED? One-Eared Rescue Dog Becomes Master Painter
When a one-eared shelter dog in Connecticut struggled to find a new family last year, one of his caretakers had a wild idea: Why not teach him to paint? With help from TikTok and peanut butter, the aptly named Van Gogh became a social media star. “I’d seen TikTok videos of other dogs creating paintings, so why not Van Gogh?” Jaclyn Gartner, the founder of Happily Furever After Rescue, told The Washington Post. “He certainly had the name and the ear for it.” To leverage what she calls Van Gogh’s “fast and creative tongue,” Gartner covered small canvases in dollops of paint, wrapped them in plastic wrap, and slathered them in peanut butter. Then, she presented the treats to the boxer-pit bull mix. He quickly licked the canvases clean, creating his “art” along the way. According to the Post, Van Gogh’s first few paintings flopped — just like the work of the human artist Vincent Van Gogh, who didn’t become famous until after he died in 1890. This star rose thanks to Jo Van Gogh, the wife of his brother Theo, who advocated for his work after both Theo and Vincent passed away. You could say that Gartner was dog Van Gogh’s Jo because, like the original painter’s, the pup’s art staged a comeback! After his first “art show” drew just two guests, Gartner started auctioning off his paintings online. His abstract work like “Peacock Swirl” and a rendition of human Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” quickly raised more than $3,000 for Happily Furever After Rescue. As his reputation soared on social media, Van Gogh also found his forever home with shelter volunteer Jessica Starowitz. He now spends his days painting and lounging on the couch. You can follow his exploits on Instagram under the handle @officialvgdog.

Properly Fuel Your Body
Fueling Your Body in Your 50s and 60s It’s All About Healthy Aging!
50th birthdays are often filled with mixed feelings about aging, wisdom, experiences, and pride. Many are thrilled to be close to retirement, becoming grandparents, and entering a new stage of life. However, as we age, our bodies change, and it’s essential to focus on properly nourishing that changing body.
omega-3 fatty acids are proven to lower the rate of mental deterioration!
Include calcium. As we age, our bones
Here are some dietary tips to ensure your body gets all the nutrition it needs to flourish and thrive in your 50s and 60s!
become increasingly prone to osteoporosis, a decrease in bone mass. High-calcium foods such as milk, yogurt, cheese, leafy greens, and soy products are chock-full of calcium, a critical nutrient that supports bone development and health. Stick to whole foods. Processed foods, which are linked to weight gain, health complications, and heart disease, are usually high in sodium, saturated fats, and calories and lack beneficial nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Opt for fresh and frozen vegetables, whole grains, meats, and healthy fats to promote optimal health. Opt for water. Sugary drinks and juices wreak havoc on your waistline and can lead to diabetes and other health conditions. Water is the best way to maintain hydration and fuel your body’s daily functions properly!
Consume ample protein. Protein is vital for building and maintaining lean muscle mass, which supports metabolism, boosts immunity, and keeps your body strong. While lean meats, fish, and poultry are excellent protein sources, remember that protein is also present in eggs, tofu, lentils, beans, seeds, nuts, and dairy products. Don’t skimp on fish. Chronic diseases such as dementia, strokes, heart disease, and diabetes become more common in our later years. Healthy omega-3 fatty acids are essential to combat these issues and reduce inflammation in our bodies. Fish is high in these nutrients, but if you aren’t a fan of fish, you can also find these healthy fats in walnuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds, and supplements. Best of all,
