Fyzical AR_ Helping Shoulder Pain

3 StepApproach to TreatingRotator CuffTears or Shoulder Impingement Syndrome

3. Strengthening and Restoring Proper Joint Biomechanics Weakness causes the shoulder to move incorrectly which worsens the tear. The shoulder and the scapula (the shoulder- blade) must work in a very specific rhythm in order for pain-free function. The use of theraband, balls, manual resistance and even weight bearing activity can significantly advance shoulder stability and strength. If needed, the therapist may use sport tape to support the shoulder joint thus allowing you to feel the correct shoulder alignment.

1. Reduce Pain Pain from a rotator cuff tear can be from the tendons, the joint capsule, or from a bursa that is nearby. We have many modalities that we can use to reduce pain including ice, ultrasound and electrical stimulation. Pain will also be reduced with the right exercise routine. We also instruct you in helpful positioning tips that help to reduce pain when sleeping, driving or sitting.

2. IncreaseMobilityoftheShoulderJoint If the joint itself has become tight we will begin gentle mobilizations to increase proper movement in all parts of the shoulder complex. Cane or towel exercises are used for improving motion and allowing the shoulder to progressively increase range without inflaming the joint capsule.

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. The cups may be made of:

• Glass • Bamboo

• Earthenware • Silicone

Cupping therapy might be trendy now, but it’s not new. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.
