IOF - UNITES THE PATIENT MOVEMENT
IOF is the only truly international organization which is recognized as the respected voice for the global bone health community. IOF comprises a unique multi-stakeholder membership, headed by the world’s leading international experts. This lends IOF the authority to call for evidence-based changes in osteoporosis prevention and care.
With a global structure based on strong regional representation, IOF unites more than 230 national patient and medical societies in 98 countries. Consequently, IOF can reach out to a broad constituency of 1 million people across the osteoporosis and related diseases community.
IOF - SETS GLOBAL SCIENTIFIC STANDARDS
IOF - HAS THE POWER TO CONVENE AND MOBILIZE THE PUBLIC
IOF leadership and scientific advisory committee include the field’s key opinion leaders.
As the largest global foundation in the field, IOF has the power to convene and mobilize people from a wide range of countries in the name of bone, muscle and joint health. Through campaigns such as World Osteoporosis Day, a strong member-society base, and extensive media outreach, IOF mobilizes the public and drives change across a broad patient and community base.
Prolific, highly-regarded scientific output is generated through world-class journals, scientific working groups, high-priority projects, position papers, and key scientific meetings. IOF has strong brand value, and is considered the global thought leader working to improve clinical practice to the benefit of patients around the world.
IOF - DRIVES GLOBAL ADVOCACY EFFORTS
IOF - HAS A PROVEN TRACK RECORD
IOF plays an active role in leading advocacy efforts by calling for health authorities to prioritize bone health. Both in Europe and other regions of the world, IOF has issued landmark reports which are unique and powerful advocacy tools in the fight for improved osteoporosis prevention and care. In 2015, IOF joined the Non-Communicable Disease Alliance (NCDA) Supporters Consultation Group. This is an important step to ensuring bone health is on the agenda as the NCD community advocates for greater prioritization of these health issues.
IOF has a solid track record of success. Its membership has tripled over the past 15 years and its high-value programmes and scientific output has grown and expanded. Based in Switzerland, the Foundation has regional representations in Latin America, Middle East & North Africa and the Asia-Pacific and South Africa. Continued partnerships with like- minded organizations have enabled IOF to maximize its effectiveness and outreach.
