CELEBRATE NATIONAL DOG DAY By Giving Your Canine Friends Some Love
Did you know that Aug. 26 is National Dog Day? August is also part of the dog days of summer. So not to “dog” on all the cat people out there, but we are devoting this month to the canines. Why not use this holiday as a reason to give your canine friends some extra love and attention? (As if you needed an excuse!) Here are a few ideas to make them wag their tails with joy. TAKE YOUR DOG ON A LONGWALK. Every dog owner knows a dog that gets enough exercise is a happy dog. Find a new trail or route in your neighborhood and take your dog along for the adventure! MAKE YOUR DOG SOME HOMEMADE FOOD. Just like whole, unprocessed foods are healthier for humans, they're also healthier for our pets. VOLUNTEER AT A LOCAL SHELTER. Many shelters need volunteers to come in and play with the dogs or take them for walks. Give a few hours of your time and visit a local shelter to bring a whole lot of joy to these dogs’ days.
GET YOUR PUP UPTO DATE ON VACCINATIONS. If it’s been a while since your dog’s last vaccination or if you’ve moved and need to get up to date on their records, now’s a great time to check in with your vet about your pet’s immunization schedule. Vaccinating your dog helps protect them against many of the common diseases out there. WRITE ATHANK-YOU LETTERTO AMILITARY SERVICE DOG (ANDTHEIR HANDLER). Did you know that every year, alongside their service humans, military service dogs help protect us? Take a moment to thank them for their service through a letter or social media post.
