R eady for the M arch Leon Trotsky, once the most powerful personage of the Soviet Union, now an exile, ought to speak with some au thority. He informs us that the Russian colossus is about ready for the fray. He has eighteen thousand eagles of war hovering in the skies, ready to hurl upon mankind the flames of hell! His chemical laboratories have ready secret gases that will send vast cosmopolitan populations into Hades overnight. Over sixteen millions of men, to say nothing of other millions of boys and whole battalions of aggressive, atheistic Amazons, are ready for the call to arms. But little does Trotsky or any other son of Gog real ize that the hooks of the God they hate will determine the time and the course of their march. Little do they realize that none who join therein shall ever retu rn ! Little do they realize that their march is predestined to end on the exact spot where marching myriads of the blustering enemies pf Jehovah have ended in ages gone—a mighty bone pile in the valley of Megiddo on the plain of Esdraelon. T he M eeting of the R ussian and the R oman B easts As the southward march of Gog and his allied hosts begins, the Roman “beast” leaps from his lair! Imme diately, Israel’s God hurls His mighty hooks into the jaws of this nameless ten-horned monster also. And the hooks of God draw together the Russian bear and the Roman superbeast. Gog’s jaws froth and foam! “Great fury” flashes forth from the face of the Roman monster. Wrath arises in the nostrils of Israel’s God. The spot of meeting will hardly see a “Peace Conference” ! As we have seen, “an evil thought” for “spoil” and for the destruction of the Jew starts Gog on his march. Thereupon, the God of the Jew calls for a sword (Ezek. 38:21). It is not the “sharp sword” (Rev. 19:15) that goeth out of the mouth of a descending Christ —not yet! Rather, it is the sword of the last great Nebuchadnezzar— the willful king (Dan. 11:36)—“the king of the south” (Dan. 11:40)—the Roman monster “beast” (Rev. 13)— the Antichrist. This great “beast,” like Nebuchadnezzar of old, becomes the sworded servant of Israel’s God for the execution of judgment upon Gog. Flushed with vic tory over “the king of the south,” the Roman “beast,” still in Egypt, receives “tidings out of the east and out of the north” that “shall trouble him.” He hears the south ward tramp of the hosts of Gog. “Therefore shall he go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly make away many” (Dan. 11:44). While we understand that it was not asked with this event in mind, yet Jeremiah’s query is appropriate here: “Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?” (Jer. 15:12). “Shall iron [Rome] break the northern iron [Russia], and the steel [Stalin] ?” It is not without interest to note once more that the bloody- jawed dictator of all Soviets, Josef Dzchugashwili, in his youth changed his name to Josef Stalin, i.e., “Josef Steel.” It matters not what the Spirit of God may have had in mind when He inspired Jeremiah to write these words, nor whether or not the translators correctly translated, as a matter of fact, the “iron” of Rome is due to grind to powder the “northern iron” and to pulverize the infidel “Steel.” Seven months shall the children of Israel be in gathering together the filthy refuse and wreckage of these adorers and reverencers of Judas Iscariot, piling it high on the famous bone pile of God’s ancient enemies (Ezek. 39:14, 15).

his armies, over into “the glorious land, and . . . he shall stretch forth his hand upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape” (Dan. 11:41, 42). This arouses the ire of “the king of the south” who shall “push at him” (Dan. 11:40). The willful king marches into Egypt. Britain, “the king of the south” and protector of Egypt, fails in his push. The Antichrist out of Rome is revealed as the victor—“for that that is determined shall be done” (Dan. 11:36). “He shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt” (Dan. 11:43). G og S ees H is O pportunity and A cts As the Roman “beast” and “the king of the south” are busy settling differences far away in the land of Egypt, Gog speculates: “Is not the hour opportune for a great double stroke—the replenishment of a sadly depleted ex chequer and the annihilation of the stubborn soul of all real religious faith—Abraham’s seed?” Gog thinks —and marches! But God also thinks: “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: . . . Thou shalt come from thy place out of the uttermost parts of the north, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company and a mighty army; and thou shalt come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land: it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring thee against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. . . . And it shall come to pass in that day, when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, that my wrath shall come up into my nostrils” (Ezek. 38 :14-16,18, R. V.). Ominous words! Wrath in the nostrils of Omnipo tence ! I srael ’ s G od G ets O ut H is “H ooks ” “I will . . . put hooks in thy jaws” (Ezek. 38 :4), cries the God of Israel, as Gog prepares to march, “and I will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: . . . Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel; thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee” (Ezek. 39:2, 4). The Lord God of Israel once drove those “hooks” into the nose of the mighty Sennacherib (2 Ki. 19:28), and the bellowing bull of Assyria became meeker than an ass. He hurled those “hooks” into the nose of the mightiest monarch of all time and staked him out in the fields to eat grass. It was because of those “hooks” that Jehovah could say: “Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, MY SER VANT.” It is prophesied that Jehovah will put His “hooks” into the jaws of “Pharaoh, king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers” (Ezek. 29 :3), and lead him forth into “the open fields” to be “meat to the beasts of the fields and the fowls of the heaven” (Ezek. 29:5). Let all kings consider the “hooks” of Is rael’s God! Even as we write, Gog is crushing the marriage altar and the church, trampling the Word of God beneath his filthy paws, and kicking up foul, disease-laden dust which the winds are carrying to the four corners of the earth. Yet the very God he despises has hooks in Gog’s nose which soon will lead him on one grandiose march to a bone pile in Palestine.
