look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation” (Heb. 9:28). Our advise is: Keep awake! W hat of the V ictorious R oman “B east ” ? With the victorious ending of his campaign against “the king of the south” and with his utter annihilation of “the king of the north,” verily, “Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?” (Rev. 13:4). Flushed with success and glory, he now plants “his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him” (Dan. 11: 45). For he also is Antichrist. Yet, for a little while, he must remain to fulfill the purposes of God. He receives the crown from the “ten kings” of the revived Roman Empire for “one hour” (cf. Rev. 17:12, 13). “Power” is “given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” (Rev. 13:7). In the strength of this might, the “hooks” of God lead him on to conquer and judge the “harlot”— ecclesiastical Babylon. He shall “hate the harlot . . . and burn her utterly with fire. For God did put in their hearts to do his mind” (Rev. 17:16, 17, R. V.). The “beast” conquers. So does God! Then back goes the “beast” to his palace in “the navel of the earth” (Ezek. 38:12, margin, R. V .). In pride, he erects his image (Rev. 13:14, 15) in the glorious land, [Continued on page 168] to note whether the promise is in accord with God’s pro vision for the church, according to the New Testament, be fore accepting it for ourselves. The spiritual phase of God’s blessings of all time are for us to appropriate. Spiritual blessings are far greater than temporal, and the deepest spiritual experiences seem to ripen only through testings, hardships, and sometimes through lack of the tem poral blessings. We can put our trust in our loving and faithful Father to give or withhold as He sees fit, that we may have His very best for us, can’t w e! Dear Miss Sco tt : How shall I know what is right and wrong for a Chris tian to do as regards amusement and recreation? Some say one thing is wrong and some another. If the Bible gave a list of things we should not do, it seems it would be easier. What Scripture will help me in deciding this? '-—- T r o u b l e d O n e . Dear Troubled One: The New Testament is not a book of rules, but of prin ciples to be applied by the Holy Spirit’s help to all expe riences of life. Here are two principles that will help you: “Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend” (1 Cor. 8:13). “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” Hj Cor. 10:31). Ask of the thing questioned: May my doing it cause some one to stumble ? Would this thing bring glory to my Lord? If you ask these questions honestly, asking God to give you spiritual discernment, and if you acquaint yourself with the history and influences of the thing questioned, I am sure you will be led to know God’s will concerning it for your life.

another and with the data of archaeology, to fix the open ing of Abraham’s career in Palestine not far from the middle o f the Twentieth Century B.C.” How interesting it is to note that Gog’s date for putting God out of His dominions is not far from the middle of the Twentieth Century, A.D. If Abraham entered into the land promised him just about 1937 B.C., it might be that his greatest Son and Heir will enter the land promised Him just about 1937 A.D. Since so many are setting dates, we may sug gest that that date is about as good as any. Some one is going to hit the right date one of these days, inasmuch as the spare dates are about all taken! Many contend that “ 1936-1937 is the latest possible year” for closing “the times of the Gentiles.” They may not be right. We are inclined to believe they are not far from right. Many believe ( from Bible statements that we* do not have space to discuss here) th a t'“the times of the Gen tiles” (Lk. 21 ‘24 ) are fixed to cover 2,520 years of Gen tile dominion in Jerusalem. Ridpath says: “With the overthrow of Zedekiah, in the year B.C. 586, the kingdom of Judah was extinguished.” Just 2,520 years from 586 B.C. would bring us to 1933-1934! God may decide not to wait for Gog to complete his Five-Year Program! We don’t know, but we are not taking any chances on go ing to sleep while awaiting Gog’s date! “Unto them that too, am glad for the “Query Corner.” And here is my question. What scriptural right do I have to claim the promises made to the children of Israel ? How about Gala- tions 3 :29 ? I know that I am Christ’s, praise His name! Then does it mean that I am heir to all the promises ? You see, sometimes Satan tempts me by saying, “Maybe that promise isn’t for you,” and I have to show him what God says. What I say never has done any good. Thank you. Sincerely, ------ :----------- _ V . My Dear: I am glad that you have learned the secret that we must answer Satan’s arguments with God’s Word and not our own, Romans 4:3 and 11 to 16, and Galatians 3:6 to 9 show that Abraham was justified by faith in God and not by the law, which was given four hundred and thirty years later (Gal. 3 :17), and that he is father of all who believe God, those of the circumcision (believing Jews) and of the church. God gave Israel specific promises not made to any one else. For example, under the law, God covenanted with Israel that as long as they were obedient and faithful to Him and remained in the Land, they should have material, financial, and physical prosperity (cf. Deut. 28:1-6). The church, God’s heavenly people, is an entirely distinct body and is given promises of a spiritual nature. We are taught to be content with food and raiment, and to expect perse cution and hatred. Compare God’s promise to Israel upon entering the Land (Josh. 1 :3) with His provision of spir itual blessing for the church (Eph. 1 :3) by way of illus tration of the difference of the character of blessings prom ised to His heavenly and to His earthly people. There are many precious promises in the Psalms, for example, that are for God’s people of all ages, but we need Dear Miss Sco tt : I,
