Be accountable for the results and rectification of any issues arising as a consequence of the formal audits undertaken periodically. • To recruit, select, motivate and manage the teams where appropriate and ensure an ongoing development to the highest standards of profes- sionalism and customer service. • Manage succession planning, poor performance, absence and conflict management and any other associated people related activity; • To define, set and monitor the objectives for the cleaning teams where appropriate and each of the post-holders ensure their maximum contri- bution to the business through probation and appraisals and team briefings; To be part of the facilities management operation team, ensuring the successful delivery of all cleaning services within the full operational coverage, To implement and maintain the performance monitoring system • To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by ad - herence to the requirements of the Company’s Health & Safety Policy Statement, Manual and Safe Systems of Work, COSHH Regulations, Assessments, Guidelines and Procedures. Seek advice from Managers / Supervisors / Team Leaders where necessary. To comply with the company’s policies, management plans, proce- dures and Mission Statement • Ensure that team leaders are using the correct protocols and documentation in managing staff, and that investment of people is being managed accordingly; • Develop and own the Housekeeping Operations Manual for housekeeping services, contribute to the overall Policy and Procedure strategies for Campus Services and ensure that teams are working to the Standard Operating Procedures
and other processes for Campus Services • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relation- ships to ensure that the service provided by Cam- pus Services assessing service standards and measurement; • To engender teamwork throughout Campus Services and Facilities and in relationship to other areas of the Directorate, the University and inter- nal and external stakeholders; • To work proactively with members of SOAS Directorates and Departments, stakeholders and external service providers to ensure that the operations of Campus Services is properly inte- grated into the overall day-to-day business of the department and the University as a whole; • To identify and manage risk and ensure that the University meets all its statutory legislative and health and safety requirements relating to the operational delivery of Campus Services • To manage relationships with all related cotrac- tors, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met and ser- vice agreement fulfilled; • To write and present reports relating to respective services which can be shared with committee structures and other relevant groups as appropri- ate; • Deputise for the Assistant director within certain areas, represent the Directorate and promote a positive image of SOAS; • To undertake such other duties as may be rea- sonably assigned by the Assistant director – property Services General • You must at all times carry out your responsibil- ities with due regard to the School’s Respect at SOAS statement and adhere to and promote the School’s Equality and Diversity policies; • You must accept responsibility for ensuring that policies and procedures relating to health and safety at work are adhered to at all times; • You must carry out your duties in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act; • You must abide by the requirements of the School’s IT policies.

Campus Housekeeping
Department Background The Directorate is responsible for the delivery of the Estates and Infrastructure Strategy which covers the areas of major construction, refurbishment projects, facilities operation and space management, including timetabling and energy management. The Directorate aims to ensure that the quality, functionality and op- eration of SOAS Campus and its associated infrastructure meets the needs of its users and supports the activities of the School. Job Summary • Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of estates – property services. Work closely with, and regularly collaborate with, peers and senior management team to ensure a fully integrated, seam- less approach is achieved and maintained across Campus Ser- vices. • Managing staff, systems and budgets in order to provide value for money, high quality provision and cost effective facilities manage- ment withing the housekeeping. • Be the catalyst in improving service delivery standards for your team and services. • Follow strategic direction and leadership demonstrating broad, clear and innovative thinking with the objective of delivering oper- ational excellence and continuous improvement. • Manage the operational delivery of the campus housekeeping as an integrated soft service. Key Tasks • To deliver high quality housekeeping services ensuring added value, increased productivity, and cost efficiencies wherever pos - sible, • To drive change, formulate suitable strategies, to mobilise and meet the demands of service provision, encouraging innovation from staff to provide an ongoing improvement, and adaptation to changing processes and environments. • To exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of expenditure and income within agreed budgets and take reme- dial action where appropriate.
