The 8 bulls selling as Lots 24-31 are half-blood SimAngus. These bulls are sired by two of the best bulls in the Simmental breed, and their dams are five of our top registered Angus cows. These are ET and AI and are planned matings of the highest quality, the same as our Angus. These bulls offer many benefits to the commercial producer in the growth of their calves and continuing with the maternal heterosis they deliver in their daughters. These bulls will add heterosis (hybrid vigor) to your calf crop and your replacement heifers. Why Do We Offer Composite Seedstock? We offer composite seedstock because they work. From enhancing profitability and responsible resource usage to achieving rapid improvements in economically relevant traits, hybrids provide a clear advantage over straight breeding. Unlike single-breed approaches, hybrids harness heterosis effectively, addressing challenges and simplifying crossbreeding. This approach not only maintains consistency but also incorporates diverse genetic lines, ensuring optimal results tailored to farm needs and management schemes. For those navigating industry transitions and aiming to balance cow size while maximizing premiums, hybrids offer a practical solution where straight breeding falls short. From a profitability standpoint, from a responsible resource usage standpoint — hybrids offer the way forward. But you already knew this. Ask yourself, what other food animal species or crop line leans into excessive use of straight breeding? Name just one. Ultimately, we use composite/hybrid seedstock because they better meet the needs of the business. The introduction of complementary genetics provides an attainable approach for

those cow herds that are looking to make rapid improvements in economically relevant traits. If the herd stays strictly within their breed population, they could spend years or decades to make the needed progress. Accepting the value in other breed types can offer that fix in one mating. The beauty of the hybrid is that it makes crossbreeding simple. Generate a cow herd that fits the basic breed makeup that works for your outfit, your environment, your management scheme. Then source sires of that same basic makeup. You now have the same consistency and simple implementation you get with straight breds, but you have the advantages of multiple genetic lines and hybrid vigor benefitting you. This is the path forward for those who must keep cow size under control as they also wish to capitalize on the industry premiums associated with those large, heavy steers. Straight breeding makes that balance nearly impossible, especially today. Hybrids are positioned to take the baton from those serious straight bred lines and move your business forward in a transitioning industry.
