FEBRUARY 28 Love for Fellow Believers

"By this shall all men know that ye ace my disciples, if ye have love one to an other" (John 13:35). In the heart of every child in the family of God, there should be a peculiar and special love for every other member of the family . . . It is our one distinct character istic in the eyes of the world.. . Are we cul tivating our love for our fellow Christians? Or are we withering it in an atmosphere of criticism and unkindness? Listen! "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another: as 1 have loved you." . . . O God, teach us how to cultivate Thy love in our hearts!— G eoffrey R. K ing . JUNIOR KING’S BUSINESS [Continued from page 16] B usiness . The Christian life begins with the new birth when one becomes a member of God’s family, but this is only the first step. There should be growth, and accordingly our verses for this month are on growing in the Christian life. (Before introducing the following verses to a group of children in a class, the leader will find it well to discuss the subject of “growing,” explaining that in nature, plants grow if they have water, sunshine, and care. Children grow strong and healthy if they have the proper food, rest, exercise, etc. So in the Christian life, there are cer tain things which help one to grow strong spiritually.) Question (asked by the teacher): What is a child of God commanded to do? Answer (child reading the answer from the Word of God): “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sav iour Jesus Christ” (2 Pet. 3:18). Discussion: From this verse you can see, boys and girls, that God wants each of us who know Him to “grow.” He wants us to become better acquainted with our Sav iour, the Lord Jesus. But how? Let us con sider the second question. Question (asked by the teacher): How may a child of God grow in the Christian life? Answer (child reading from the Word of God): "As newborn babes, desire, the sin cere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Pet. 2:2). Discussion: In this verse God’s Word is likened to milk. How many of you drink milk? Milk is such a good food for boys and girls. It makes you grow strong and develop muscle and bone. Just as milk makes you grow physically, so God’s Word enables us to grow spiritually. We should make it a rule of our lives to read at least a chapter from the Bible each day and to memorize a verse of Scripture. We do not forget to eat our meals and drink milk, do we? So we should remember to read God’s Word daily and to hide it away in our hearts. It is not ours to choose the form of serv ice, but only to be ready—aggressively ready—for any task the Lord shall give. Isaiah did not first ask what his work should be; he simply said, "Send me.”— S elected . |

The movies in all their lurid ugliness and painted beauty are shown to be the sirens of hell, beckoning to our youth to come and enjoy the pleasures of sin, with certain death as the penalty. It goes into details.
