Expected Progeny Difference (EPD): EPD’s have by far the most data points recorded in the system. DNA profiles and actual performance are great indicators of an animals EPD’s, but only indicators. We strongly encourage buyers to look at EPD’s. Everything else is an indicator.

Blue Boxes: Indicate top 35% with the exception for Milk, MW, and MH. These 3 traits are blue for the middle 80% of the breed to eliminate extremes.
Actual Performance: How an animal actually performs from birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, ADG, stature, scrotal circumference, and carcass ultrasound is an indicator of EPD’s. However, it can be very environmentally influenced, especially on embryo transfer calves because it is not the animal’s actual mother giving birth or raising the calf.
AngusGS is a DNA profile that ranks an animal based on the 993,782 animals that have has a DNA profile by 5/28/2021. Ranked on a 1-100 Scale with 1 being the most often favorable. This profile does not rank the entire breed, only the animals that have been tested for a profile. It is a great tool to get the most accurate EPD profile possible.
