HAVE A LAUGH

The holiday season is a time of celebration, joy, and togetherness. However, it is also a period when accidents and mishaps tend to increase. To ensure a safe and happy holiday season for you and your loved ones, it’s essential to be mindful of potential risks and take necessary precautions. CHRISTMAS TREE AND LIGHTS SAFETY • When selecting a real Christmas tree, look for one with vibrant, green needles and a strong fragrance. A fresh tree is less likely to catch fire. • Keep the tree stand filled with water to prevent the tree from drying out, reducing the risk of fire. • Inspect holiday lights and decorations for any signs of damage or wear. Replace any faulty wiring or bulbs to prevent electrical fires. • Position your tree away from heat sources, such as fireplaces, radiators, and heaters. Ensure it doesn’t obstruct doorways or escape routes. • Before going to bed or leaving the house, remember to switch off the holiday lights to prevent potential fires. HOLIDAY DUI AND DRIVING SAFETY • If you’ll be attending gatherings or parties, plan your transportation in advance. Designate a sober driver, arrange for a taxi or rideshare service, or use public transportation. • Never get behind the wheel if you’ve consumed alcohol or any impairing substances. Always designate a sober driver if you’re planning to drink. • Be vigilant on the road and watch for drivers who may not be following safe driving practices. Defensive driving is crucial during the holiday season. • Distracted driving can lead to accidents. Keep your focus on the road and avoid using your phone while driving. GATHERING AND PARTY SAFETY • Offer non-alcoholic beverage options for designated drivers and guests who prefer not to drink. Promote responsible drinking. • If you’re attending a holiday party, be mindful of your surroundings and the behavior of others. If you notice someone who may have had too much to drink, offer assistance or arrange for a sober ride home. • Ensure your guests have a plan to get home safely.
