Doc (Docility EPD) is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. HP (Heifer Pregnancy EPD) characterizes differences among sires for the daughter’s heifer pregnancy. Reported in units of percent - age, a higher EPD sire would be expected to have daughters with a greater probability of becoming pregnant than a sire with a lower EPD. $Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) , an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences from conception to weaning. $M traits include calving ease direct, calving ease maternal, weaning weight, milk, heifer pregnancy, docility, mature cow weight, claw set and foot angle. $Weaned Calf Value ($W) , an index value expressed in dol- lars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for pre-weaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk and mature cow size. $Grid Value ($G) , an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires. $Beef Value ($B) , an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. $Combined Value ($C) , an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all 15 traits involved in $M and $B. $C aims for maximum profitability with cowherds that retain some heifers for replacements, but retain ownership on cull heifers and all steers through the feedlot and sell on a quality based carcass grid. Production Measurements: BW – Actual birth weight taken day of calving. 205 – Weaning weight adjusted to 205 day equivalent and dam’s age. 365 – Yearling weight adjusted to 365 day equivalent. Hip ht. – Actual hip height taken at yearling and adjusted to 365 day equivalent. SC – Scrotal circumference measured to the nearest 0.5 centimeter and adjusted to 365 day equivalent. Disposition Score – Each animal has been evaluated numerous times throughout the growing period and has been assigned a numeri- cal score for disposition. We eliminate animals from our system that are too nervous to be manageable in most any operation. However, we caution that when one animal is taken from a large group and put by itself it will usually not have a relaxed attitude. 1 = Docile 4 = Flighty 2 = Restless 5 = Aggressive 3 = Nervous 6 = Very Aggressive Dam Udder Score – The dam has been evaluated for udder quality the day of calving, and has been assigned a two part score for teat size and udder suspension. Teat size is listed first, then udder suspension. Teat Size Udder Suspension 1 – Very Large 1 – Very Pendulous 2 2 3 – Large 3 – Pendulous 4 4 5 – Intermediate 5 – Intermediate 6 6 7 – Small 7 – Tight 8 8 9 – Very Small 9 – Very Tight 10 10

EPD (Expected Progeny Differences) are the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database of the Ameri- can Angus Association. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Every animal selling in Stucky Ranch sales have EPDs which have been genomically enhanced from individual genomic tests being added to the base pedigree index EPD values. Also, every animal selling in Stucky Ranch sales have the highest accuracy carcass EPDs possible. This is resulting from individual carcass ultrasound data in large contemporary groups processed by the American Angus Association. CED (Calving Ease Direct) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first calf heifers. BW (Birth Weight EPD) , expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. WW (Weaning Weight EPD) , expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. YW (Yearling Weight EPD) , expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. SC (Scrotal Circumference EPD) , expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires. Milk (Maternal Milk EPD) , is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. The part of a calf’s weaning weight at - tributed to mother’s milk. CW (Carcass Weight EPD) , expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marb (Marbling EPD) , expressed as a fraction of the differences in the USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. RE (Ribeye Area EPD) , expressed in square inches, is a predic- tor of the difference in the ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Fat (Fat Thickness EPD) , expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
