THE OWEN ROSE GARDEN Stop and smell more than 4,500 roses in over 400 varieties at this eight-and-a-half-acre community park. With a looped path and well-kept amenities like restrooms and picnic tables, Owen Rose Garden is perfect for walks, bike rides and picnics — all surrounded by blooms in every shade. Beyond the roses, the garden is home to the nationally recognized Oregon Heritage Cherry Tree, believed to have been planted around 1847 and considered one of the oldest and largest Black Tartarian cherry trees in the country. Find a little peace, touch some grass and breathe in the roses at this Eugene staple.

SATURDAY MARKET Open every Saturday from April through mid-November, the Eugene Saturday Market is the crème de la crème of farmers markets. Makers and curators of all kinds, selling everything from pottery and handmade crafts to farm-fresh foods and one-of-a-kind souvenirs, set up outdoors for a lively market that blends local goods with energetic community vibes. After checking everything off your list, grab a bite from one of the many food vendors serving cuisines from around the world, and enjoy live music from local performers. Located on the Park Blocks in the heart of downtown, the market runs rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MUSEUM OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY Take a break from the trails and step into Eugene’s past at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History. Located on the University of Oregon campus, this museum celebrates the region’s deep natural and cultural roots, from fossils and artifacts to exhibits honoring Indigenous histories. It’s an idyllic spot to slow down, learn something new and connect with the stories that shaped Eugene and the greater Oregon region.

SPENCER BUTTE We weren’t kidding when we said Eugene is an outdoor hub. So much so that most of your time here should be spent soaking in its majestic natural beauty, starting with regional landmark Spencer Butte. Standing at 2,058 feet, this summit is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering sweeping views of the city and valleys below. Two main trails lead to the top: the Main Summit Trail, a popular and beginner-friendly route, and the West Trail, which offers a steeper, more challenging climb. No matter which path you take, the panoramic views at the summit are worth every step.
