“This [experience] was absolutely life-changing. I got to unpack leadership on a deeper level and learn the critical skills necessary to become a more successful, effective and impactful leader in society,” Skya Favor (Gamma Zeta-Puget Sound) says. “This was the most incredible experience of my life. The fact that a company that does business so well could share even a bit of its business and leadership knowledge with us is unmatched by any other experience I’ve had,” Sydney Wright (Delta Delta-Oklahoma City) shares. “I will take what I learned not only into my chapter and my leadership roles, but also into my life after graduation and my professional career.” Life-changing. Unmatched. Incredible. These are just a few words members use to capture the Leadership Institute experience. For many, the lessons learned extend far beyond chapter life, shaping how they lead, collaborate and carry themselves in the world beyond the our Fraternity. Of course, members worked hard and played hard. After all, Disney World was right at their doorstep. After each full day of learning, members had the chance to unwind with after-hours activities that fostered sisterhood and friendship. On Thursday, they gathered to watch the park’s fireworks show, a perfect way to close the day. On Friday, they enjoyed dinner and shopping at Disney Springs, a lively
destination filled with boutiques, eateries and entertainment. By Saturday, sisters headed into Magic Kingdom to experience everything the parks had to offer. Carolyn Gregg, director of member engagement at Alpha Phi's Executive Office, shared that the blend of professional development and sorority spirit created something special. “By the end of the day, members were sharing stories, laughing and starting to build new friendships,” she says. What makes this event even more special are the cross- generational relationships that form. The 10 alumnae coaches, along with the two LPCs, serve as mentors to the collegiate women. They support members by answering questions, providing Alpha Phi-specific insight and helping attendees plan how to implement what they take away from the experience into their chapters. It is women empowering women, creating lifelong memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
