Traveling and Celebrating, Hand in Hand Every summer for more than 35 years, a group of Beta Upsilon-Oregon State sisters from the class of 1972 gathers in Sisters, Oregon, — yes, that’s the real name of the town — for their annual “Sisters in Sisters” reunion. While the itinerary changes each year, one thing remains the same: celebrating lifelong friendship. During their time together, sisters catch up on the past year, cheer on each other’s accomplishments, laugh until they cry, reminisce about their collegiate days at Oregon State and plan their next adventure. This summer’s trip felt especially meaningful as the group celebrated their 75th birthdays, a milestone worthy of a memorable getaway. To mark the occasion, the sisters traveled to Victoria, British Columbia, proudly sporting Oregon State orange and black and the university’s mascot, Benny the Beaver, on their shirts. Elizabeth “Lizz” Anderson Vandehey shares, “We were easy to spot and got comments from folks passing us while taking pictures.” The celebrations continued with plenty of activities. “We had a wonderful time visiting the Royal BC Museum, the Victoria Butterfly Gardens and The Butchart Gardens. We even had a private tour of the inner chambers of the British Columbia Parliament Building. It was an incredible trip celebrating 57 years of sisterhood.”
Caring Recognized With nearly 20 years of experience, Molly Lungrin Kuhl (Delta Xi-Nebraska Kearney) has dedicated her career to helping students thrive. This past August, she celebrated 13 years as a school psychologist with Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) in Nebraska, where she currently supports students at Lakewood Elementary School, Nuernberger Education Center and Don Sherrill Education Center. Throughout her tenure, Molly has guided hundreds of students with academic, social, behavioral and emotional needs. She works closely with families, teachers, administrators and professionals across the district, always focused on what matters most: students feeling truly seen and supported. “Molly’s ability to navigate complex situations while keeping student well-being at the center is a testament to her skill and integrity,” Carrie Foster, Molly’s colleague, shares. That commitment has not gone unnoticed. Carrie nominated Molly for the Nebraska School Psychologists Association (NSPA) Outstanding School Psychologist Award, a statewide honor that recognizes exceptional work ethic, dedication and impact. This past fall, Molly received the prestigious award at the NSPA annual conference, surrounded by friends, colleagues and former interns and students she once supervised. While Molly never expected recognition, she is grateful for the support of those who have played a part in her journey. “I have been able to get to know so many peers throughout my nearly 20-year career, and it means a lot to have gained their respect,” she says. For Molly, success looks different for every student, and she takes pride in celebrating each victory along the way. She is also quick to credit the dedicated professionals who work alongside her. “I love being part of school teams with teachers, counselors, social workers, speech-language pathologists and others. It is inspiring to work with passionate people who come together every day to support students and families, and I absolutely love it.”
