Hello from the North Bench,
Well it’s sale time again folks. We’re happy to be here and extremely happy to be in thelivestock industry with you. It’s our 9 th year with the sale, the cows 38 th year. We still have several of the original cows we bought from Jim and Darlene Fossum in 2018. It feels like Doug and I are figuring out what is working for our operation and we haven’t made any big changes for a couple seasons now. Change certainly can be good but it was start- ing to feel like we never did the same thing twice and that can challenge the growth of an operation. Today, it feels like we’re growing in the right direction, and we thank our dedicated customers for their assistance in that! We did decide to change a few things on sale day though. HA! North Bench bulls will be sold in sire groups, or similar sire groups as they are listed here in the catalog. You will find 17 sires in this offering, let me explain a bit. Doug and I sit down with our entire cow list every year before breeding season, we decide who will go through AI protocol and assign them an AI sire from our tank that we feel best compliments her traits. Many of our matings, we’re hoping we get a heifer, but next best is our customers get a solid bull from industry lead- ing genetics. The kids also get to choose who they breed their cows too… be sure to check out 5027, 5063, and 5105. We choose our herd bulls from reputable producers that have cow herds with similar goals. We look for outcross genetics, calving ease, good temperament, and strong maternal traits. If you can’t join us in Glasgow on Thursday, or able to view the bulls at the stockyard Tuesday or Wednesday before the sale, we added DVAuction service option to sale day. Videos will be posted on DV Auction website. North Bench bulls and MY Angus bulls can always be viewed at Hould’s Bull Development in Malta (5867 Hwy 363).
