A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 13

Following 2 weeks of mock exams, I hope the Year 13 students have settled back into their usual lessons well.

Today, as part of their A Level studies in Spanish, students attended a subject conference, which I am sure they all found really beneficial given how close they are to their public exams. Whilst our Art & Photography students visited the Wellcome Collection and The Tate Modern. All Year 13 students who have opted to undertake the EPQ will now need to present their thesis to an audience. This will take place over the course of both Wednesday and Thursday next week. These presentations are one of the compulsory requirements of the EPQ. I would really like to wish them all the best of luck.

Year 13 students will be involved in a number of events next week. On Tuesday, all Psychology students have been invited to attend a Psychology Dreaming Workshop with Professor Mark Blagrove after school.

Also on Tuesday, as part of their A Level in English Literature, the Year 13 students will pay a visit to The Globe to watch Othello. I am certain they will thoroughly enjoy watching the play. Furthermore, on Wednesday after school, A Level Drama students will be completing the practical part of their A Level exam. I would like to wish them all, the best of luck too.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

“ Letters From The Underground ” by Fyodor Dostoevsky

“ Letters From The Underground ” by Fyodor Dostoevsky (translated from Russian) is a deep dive into the human psyche from the perspective of a man who is overly negative and is criticising himself. It is in the form of a “confession” and explores the complexity of the man’s mind. I would recommend this novella to those who want a challenging but rewarding read, that will draw you in and intrigue you.
