FMBNI elects newPresident “BUILD BACK BETTER, BUILD GREENER AND INVEST IN THE FUTURE,” SAYS FMB NI’S NEW PRESIDENT…
E mphasis on quality, greener construction and investment in skills were the strong messages from FMB NI’s new Presidential team and Board at their recent AGM. The challenges of the current pandemic saw a unique event held virtually, during which the membership elected Willie Moffitt of Moffitt & Robinson as their new Regional President for a two-year role. Recognised as a leading authority on passive house build - as well as other aspects of construction - Willie’s passion to innovate and enthuse is evident to all. Commenting on his termWillie said, “There’s a need to look at how we build; developing skills and initiatives that promote greener technologies. This brings a wide range of social and environmental benefits for society. We need to encourage more young people to see that developing trades are skills that can help for a lifetime. Are we doing enough to help them from an early age to have a passion
to work alongside us in the industry? “FMB stands for quality and it’s been great to see FMB developing a call for a National and Regional Retrofit Strategy, which would help both the public and government see the value of such a scheme.” He strongly advocates becoming a member of the FMB for the benefits it can bring to your business and the voice it provides to help members with issues. VALUABLE CONTACTS “I’ve come to value the contacts made through FMB, a wide circle of associates in the building industry who have become friends and colleagues. We really do have a community we can call on to pull together. I am proud to be a member of the Federation of Master Builders, to sit on the NI Board and now represent its members here in Northern Ireland as President.” Taking on the role of Vice President is Gavin Dynes of John Dynes & Son,
Kircubbin with Mark Gribbin, Director of Setanta Construction, Magherafelt appointed as a National Board Member for FMB. “I am a strong advocate for the FMB and what it represents. Quality construction sits at the centre of all we do. I feel honoured to be given the role as Vice President of FMB NI by the members and will work alongside Willie and the Board to build a stronger industry for our members here,” says Gavin. The membership passed on its appreciation to Ian Lowry for his selfless hard work on behalf of the wider industry. Ian’s balanced, experienced voice has been invaluable in developing better client contractor relations at both public and private sector level. He has worked to get FMB’s accreditation recognised for public sector work. With many challenges ahead for the industry it’s encouraging to see the passion and dedication evident in FMB members who must drive up standards and find a way to sustain our industry. “There’s a need to look at howwe build; developing skills and initiatives that promote greener technologies. This brings awide range of social
and environmental benefits for society.”
