A FOCUS ON QUALITY HAS MADE ACC ONE OF NORTHERN IRELAND’S LARGEST HOME BUILDERS… AntrimConstructionCompany

A ntrim Construction Company Limited is recognised as one of the largest and most established private housing developers in Northern Ireland. A family owned business, the company was founded by current Chairman Mr Thomas McMullan in 1966 and have been successfully trading for over 54 years, with three generations of the McMullan family now committed to building new homes. Known locally as ACC, it is the principal company in the Ladyhill Holdings Group, which also includes Boville McMullan Limited/Quarrystore - a quarry and specialist aggregate company located between Ballymena and Larne, and Prospect Private Nursing Home on Ballymena’s prestigious Old Galgorm Road. The company’s striking head office, Ladyhill House, is in an impressive building which ACC built off Holywood’s High Street. ACC initially worked on small private builds and government housing projects before switching focus to larger private residential developments. As it evolved it noticed a gap in the construction industry for local companies with an

ability to manage larger industrial and agricultural projects. An Agricultural and Industrial department was established and they specialised in this area for 25 years. As the demand for quality private housing became greater, ACC decided to concentrate its efforts on residential development which resulted in the acquisition of the Holywood-based John Mowlem Homes Northern Ireland Division in 1994. Customer focused, ACC’s core business remains acquiring the most suitable land, obtaining all planning consents and building the highest quality homes where people aspire to live. This is supported by a team of experienced professionals in design, construction and sales and marketing. A fitting testimony to the company’s quality is that their team of Site Managers are regular National House Building Council quality award winners. ACC routinely manages 5 - 6 major housing developments at any given time and can certainly look back with pride at their completed residential schemes, providing some 16,000 homes across Northern Ireland since inception.

These innovative developments offer prospective home buyers a full range of house types, sizes and designs. A company where progressive thinking is encouraged, the average length of service for the 33 staff in support of over 150 sub-contractors sits around 20 years. The team is delighted it can share in the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Construction Employers Federation (CEF). They believe the CEF has been instrumental in assisting them with business planning, representing their interests at governmental level and acting on behalf of staff for pay, holiday and pension matters. ACC has representation on CEF working committees and would like to congratulate the CEF for being the strong voice of the construction industry over the last 75 years.
