4 Ways To Get the Best Results Out of Your PT Treatment

If you are currently in physical therapy, you should have a goal in mind for the end of your treatment. If it’s important to you that you finish your PT program feeling stronger and healthier, or experiencing less pain, there are many different things you can do to secure that outcome! NYPT has put together a list of ways you can get the best results from your physical therapy treatment with us. We hope you take these into consideration. Remember, if you have questions about PT, give us a call to set up an appointment! 1. Listen To The Recommendations You Get In PT We do understand that life happens and you might get busy, so if you haven’t been keeping up with your exercises, please tell your therapist so they’re aware at your next appointment. We won’t be mad! We just want to make sure we’re on the same page as you in your progress, so that your treatment schedule can be adjusted to compensate. 2. Tell Us What Hurts Your physical therapist cannot help you to feel better if they don’t know what areas of your body are bothering you. It is important to be as honest as possible about what is hurting you, or if you feel uncomfortable performing

certain exercises! Telling your therapist what activities you do on a daily basis that might be contributing to your pain is also a vital part of building out your treatment plan as well. 3. Keep Track of Your Progress Throughout PT Keeping a progress journal for your physical therapy treatment is a great way to track your results and see if there are still areas of movement that you feel limited. Your physical therapist will keep seeing you for appointments until you feel confident that every body part is working the way it should! Bring your journal with you too, because your therapist will appreciate seeing your progress as well. 4. Lead A Healthy Life Outside of PT Treatment Try to make a point to cook at home more instead of eating out. Go on evening walks with your friends or take your pet for a stroll around the neighborhood. Join a weekend sporting group. Get a bike and ride it around town instead of driving your car. There are so many ways you can lead a healthier lifestyle, and you’ll notice that the more positive changes you make, the easier PT treatment will be. Your body will feel healthier and more flexible, your energy levels will rise, and your mood will improve as well.
