A new line of backreflection meters, from OZ Optics OZ Optics Limited has announced a new line of backreflection (return loss) meters for optical components. The compact unit features a broadband SLED source for greater stability and sensitivity as well as an optional detector for insertion loss measurement. The device is rugged and has a simple intuitive touch screen interface.

Prolabs announce range of multicode products ProLabs, the UK network infrastructure and connectivity manufacturer, has announced the launch of a new range of multicode compatible optical transceivers, designed to work with more than one vendor platform. Whilst the functionality is similar to other optical transceivers, the EEPROM code that is loaded into a ProLabs multicode transceiver is compatible with Arista, Cisco and Juniper, reducing time and eliminating confusion for users.

The transceiver works across SFP 1G and SFP+ 10G, over SR/ SX, LR/LX and ER/EX distances. Stand 2268 SMART Photonics opens new production plant for next generation integration technology SMART Photonics recently opened its new independent production facility where it introduces its next generation integration technology for Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) based on Indium Phosphide (InP). It offers high density integration of telecom-grade lasers, high bit-rate modulators and detectors. A process design kit and an extensive building block library is available to facilitate your circuit design and allow design at a functional level. The new facility offers both low threshold access by Multi Project Wafer shuttles for proof of concept, and upscaling to large volumes for future needs. MTP-16™ multi-fibre optical connector for 400G Designed to support next generation parallel transmission protocols, US Conec’s MTP-16™ connector offers the highest density, physical contact, multi-fibre connector format on the market today. The MTP-16™ connector is ideal for high density structured cabling applications that support aggregation of multiple parallel or duplex links requiring low insertion loss. In addition, MTP-16™ connectors couple directly into emerging 16x25G active devices. Utilising the same external footprint as the existing traditional 12 fibre MT ferrule, the MTP-16™ comprises of an MT Elite® ferrule with one or two rows of 16 fibres and leverages all the proven MT Elite® ferrule technology in a higher density format. A unique offset keying feature is designed into the MTP-16™ connector to ensure proper mating without inadvertently connecting 16 fibre hardware with standard MPO compliant hardware. The new keying hardware specifications were recently published in TIA 604-18 (FOCIS 18). MTP-16™ bulkhead adapters are also available in full or reduced flange mounting and opposed or aligned key orientation. Stand 2313 Stand 3753

The backreflection meter is available not only for telecommunication wavelengths, but also for 1060nm, 830nm, and 650nm wavelengths, and works with singlemode and polarisation maintaining fibres for these wavelengths. This makes them ideal for fibre lasers, sensors, and biomedical applications, such as Optical Coherent Tomography (OCT). This capability is unique to OZ Optics’ backreflection meters. The Backreflection meter includes a USB communications port for communication between the meter and a computer. This allows remote control and data logging of the results for quality control. With a 70dB dynamic range and a broad list of features, the Backreflection Meter is a vital tool for your work. Stand 1903 Phoenix Photonics to showcase FM-EDFA Phoenix Photonics have developed a number of Few Mode fibre (FMF) products for application in the developing Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) market. The FM-EDFA is the only commercially available, fully fiberised, FMF amplifier and has 3 or 6-mode options.

The amplifier gives excellent performance across C-band and all modes. In addition, Phoenix will also be displaying their all-fibre Photonic Lantern multiplexers/demultiplexers for 3 and 6-mode transmission. This range is available in both standard and mode selective options. Supporting FMF-SDM components such as isolators and mode converters are also available. Phoenix has a large range polarisation control and measurement components, modules and instruments. The FIREBIRDTM in-line polarimeter offers polarisation analysis fully PC controlled. The very popular, highly stable, electronic polarisation control range offers options from OEM through to full instrumentation. Phoenix polarisers since introduction over 12 years ago remain the lowest loss highest extinction ratio devices available and the passive fibre depolariser range is being extended for DFB laser sources. Visit the Phoenix booth to discuss your polarisation and SDM requirements. Stand 2563
