Protection Team News A Stormy Outlook Ahead

But the Buccaneers Find Stability

I hope this message finds you well. I want to start by acknowledging the tone of my previous communication. While it may not have been the most uplifting, it was important to convey the truth of the situation. Unfortunately, the forecast remains challenging as we look ahead to this month. Despite the conclusion of the legislative session, there haven’t been significant developments that will immediately impact insurance premiums. However, amidst these circumstances, there is a glimmer of positive news. The state of Florida has approved eight new carriers to operate in our state. While this doesn’t necessarily translate to immediate

rate reductions or a substantial increase in policy acquisition, it indicates a potential shift in the market landscape. These approved carriers recognize the viability of our marketplace, which is a positive indicator for future investments. On a less optimistic note, recent events have presented challenges for some industry players. State Farm, for instance, has faced additional setbacks, with one of its individual companies’ credit ratings downgraded by A.M. Best to “B” (fair). Furthermore, the decision to non-renew 72,000 homeowners’ policies in California underscores the broader implications across regions. Amidst these challenges, it’s crucial to remain vigilant, especially with the 2024 hurricane season looming. Colorado State University’s hurricane researchers have issued a concerning outlook for 2024, predicting a higher-than-average number of named storms, hurricanes, and major hurricanes. I urge you to take advantage of the upcoming hurricane tax-free holiday and make necessary preparations, including initiating flood policies well in advance due to the waiting period. In brighter news, we can celebrate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ recent resignings of Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield, providing stability and reassurance to the team and fans alike. While there may still be areas to address, these signings mark significant progress as they head toward the upcoming draft. As always, I appreciate your continued trust and support. Stay safe, stay informed. Until next month,

ALL ABOARD ENSURING COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION FOR YOUR MARINE LIFESTYLE Boat or marine insurance covers a variety of vessels, from small boats and high-performance powerboats to yachts, live-on houseboats, catamarans, and pontoons. Whether you enjoy personal recreation on the water, operate boats commercially, or run charter trips, there’s a customized insurance policy designed to cover the unique needs of your maritime activities. Marine insurance policies generally cover boats, motors, trailers, and personal effects carried onboard. More specifically, they offer several types of coverage to protect boat owners and their assets, including liability insurance, which is crucial if your vessel causes injury to others or damages property. It should be noted that policies often cover medical payments for injuries that occur on your boat, providing necessary protection against potential financial burdens arising from accidents. For those who enjoy water sports, specific coverage is available to protect against injuries to water skiers towed by the insured vessel. Moreover, hull coverage safeguards against physical damage to

4 Expert-Backed Tips for Better Health The pursuit of health is a never-ending journey, and there is always more we can do to better ourselves. New revelations about effective lifestyle changes ensure there’s always more to know. NO. 1: DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but busybodies and dieters frequently forgo this morning meal to their detriment. A recent study showed that regular breakfast correlates with a healthy cardiovascular system and a reduced risk of stroke, diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Another study revealed that people who skip breakfast are less likely to lose weight. Breakfast can be anything from buttered toast to yogurt and granola. But the best options are high-protein, low-calorie choices. NO. 2: DRINK COFFEE AFTER BREAKFAST Speaking of breakfast, wait until after your morning meal for your daily cup of joe. Drinking coffee before you eat can slow your glucose control, causing blood sugar spikes. It will also reduce caffeine’s efficacy, as it increases your cortisol levels too early. NO. 3: KEEP A WATER BOTTLE ON HAND Hydration is the key to wellness. Every cell in your body demands a constant supply of H2O, so drink water. It’ll abate headaches while giving you better sleep, a sharper mind, and a better mood. It’s recommended that you drink half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces. A reusable water bottle to help measure your intake is an excellent helper in this mission. If you just can’t drink that much, eating fruits and vegetables with high water content can help bridge the gap. NO. 4: DON’T STRESS ABOUT WELLNESS The purpose of wellness is to improve your life. If you resent and stress about your diet, change it to something that suits you better, like flexible dieting. If you don’t want to wake up early and exercise before work, don’t. The best thing you can do for yourself is stay mindful. Be aware of what, when, and how much of everything you consume. Just don’t stress if you’re not perfect all the time. Everyone makes mistakes, but you can always get back on track.

This year brings a new wave of interior design trends, transforming homes into havens of style and functionality. These trends offer a glimpse into the evolving landscape of interior design, but they’re not entirely new. Let’s explore the key trends shaping the homes of today and tomorrow. SUSTAINABLE LIVING TAKES CENTER STAGE Sustainable and eco-friendly materials are gaining popularity, reflecting our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint in our living spaces. This isn’t new, as many homeowners and renters try their best to find and refurbish furniture made of recycled materials and use energy-efficient appliances and lighting. This trend continues as we embrace more sustainable designs. BIOPHILIC DESIGN CONTRIBUTES TO TRANQUIL SPACES Biophilic design incorporates nature within a living space, such as putting plants in living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Integrating this and other natural elements like water features and ample natural light will help blend these spaces. The trend also includes plant-inspired textiles, e.g., pillows, curtains, upholstery, etc. These details bring tranquility and continue a tradition of melding the inside and outside without harsh boundaries. MAXIMALISM MAKES A COMEBACK The minimalism of the 2010s is out. Maximalism is in, which means bold and vibrant colors and eclectic decor choices are gaining momentum. More people are embracing the idea that more is more, creating visually stunning spaces that reflect their personalities and diverse interests rather than opting for a sterile, monochrome ambiance. HOME OFFICES EVOLVE The rise of remote work has transformed the way we use homes. In 2024, the home office continues to evolve to accommodate this work-from-home hybrid model. Versatile yet ergonomic furniture, innovative but out-of-sight storage solutions, and personalized technology integration are becoming staples, creating home environments conducive to work and everyday living. MULTIFUNCTIONAL FURNITURE ENABLES FLEXIBLE LIVING With space optimization becoming increasingly important, multifunctional furniture is gaining popularity. Homes must adapt to various needs, so why shouldn’t your furniture do the same? Sofa beds, convertible tables, and modular storage units are some popular ways to ensure your furniture is efficient and beautiful. FUNCTIONAL AND SUSTAINABLE TRENDS FOR YOUR HOME IN 2024

the boat itself, which is vital for maintaining the vessel’s value and operability. The extent and availability of these coverages can vary significantly depending on the state and the insurance company, making it essential to verify what is offered in your location. Despite the protection provided, boat insurance premiums are generally reasonable. However, costs can vary; and actively shopping around for your rate can lead to substantial savings. That’s why we advise you to obtain comparative quotes to ensure you are receiving the best possible deal for your specific needs and circumstances. At Vermost Insurance, we understand the importance of securing a policy that meets the legal requirements and gives you peace of mind while out on the water. We offer free, comparative quotes to help you find the most comprehensive and cost- effective coverage for your boating lifestyle.
