The term “dental implant” may sound like a complicated and invasive procedure, but, as they’ve become more commonplace for a variety of patients, the process has become more routine and effective. Many conventional procedures require professional adjustments, full replacement over time, or the frequent use of adhesives to prevent the tooth from slipping inside your mouth. Full dental implants don’t require this maintenance and look and feel more natural inside your mouth. If you need a tooth replaced, a dental implant could be a great solution for you. The process of receiving a dental implant has become so streamlined that it’s now considered a minimally invasive procedure. First, the root of your missing tooth is removed and replaced with a small titanium post that’s fastened to the jawbone. Then, the implant is capped with a fake tooth, or crown, that is fully customized so its size, shape, and color flawlessly match the other teeth in your mouth. During the healing process, the implant fuses to the jaw bone, which keeps it firmly and permanently in place. The new tooth may take several weeks to several months to fully fuse and heal inside your mouth, but the end result is worth the extra recovery time. Dental implants are often the best tooth replacement solution because they rarely require any further work from you or your dentist after the initial procedure. You’ll never need to take them out to apply adhesive or to clean them, and you’ll never need to worry about the tooth itself decaying. With continued proper oral hygiene and care, your implants can last for decades. The process for a single tooth implant versus multiple tooth implants varies slightly, but both are minimally invasive and routine procedures that Texas Sedation Dental & Implant Center performs every day. Whatever type of implant you might need, be sure to schedule a free consultation in our office so we can best assess the right choice for you.
