NY Welcome Packet_2021

Welcome Packet New York 2021 – 2022

Greetings! Dear New and Returning Students,

On behalf of our wonderful faculty and staff, I’d like to say we are thrilled to have you join us this fall! We have been anticipating your arrival with faithful prayer and by finalizing the preparation of our facilities and programs. We cannot wait to see the way the Lord will work with powerful tenderness in each of your hearts over the course of this year! Traditionally, we have called the WOLBI experience “the best year of your life” – but I want to instill in you the knowledge that, though we intend for this year to be an excellent and memorable year of growth in love and Christlikeness, our true goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to make every year of your life better than the last. We want to provide you with a foundation to continue growing in power, love, and self-discipline. We want this to be “the best year of your life” in the sense that it will pave the way for an increasingly abundant life! I want to encourage each and every one of you to lay down the expectations you have for this year and to quiet your mind and prepare room in your heart for the truths Jesus will teach you. For our new students, lay aside, but do not forget, the circumstances from this past year of your life, and seek to enter this semester with fresh hope and the knowledge that the Father of lights wishes to give you good gifts. For returning students, know that this year will be fundamentally different than your first year and that God still has much to reveal to you. Finally, know that the staff and faculty around you – RAs, RLs, Deans, Resident Professors, Visiting Professors, Kitchen Staff, Housekeeping, Maintenance Crew, and so many others – are here to serve you. Please come to us with anything. Let’s make much of Jesus this year; let’s dwell on the moments where His mountain-shattering power meets the moment when He spoke gently to the woman at the well and offered her a sip of salvation. Let’s seek Him and commit to continuing His ministry of reconciling ourselves and others to the richness of His love.

With Enthusiasm and Gratitude,

ROGER PEACE President, Word of Life Bible Institute

Please have a payment plan in place with the business office prior to Registration. WHAT TO BRING Dorms: Each dorm room is furnished with wall-to-wall carpeting and drapes. Each student will need to bring their own pillow, blankets, towels and bed sheets (twin size). Each student should bring two warm blankets. Each student has a desk, dresser, and limited closet space. A desk lamp is necessary for studying. You may bring a small wastebasket for your own use.

Clothing: Information concerning clothing will be sent to you with a letter from either the Dean of Men or Dean of Women as Registration approaches.

5

Books & Bookstore: Any required textbook not included in the LOGOS software will be available in the Bookstore and can be purchased at 25% off for all students. Students are required to have personal laptops and will be equipped with the LOGOS software (included in the fees for a year). LOGOS contains many of the textbooks in an e-book format along with their course syllabi. For more information on laptop specifications for LOGOS, check out wordoflife.edu/logos . Information on how to download the LOGOS software system will be sent to you in the mail prior to Registration. The Campus Bookstore will be open Registration Weekend and daily through the school year. Personal and gift items, textbooks, and paper supplies are available. Personal checks, Visa, MasterCard or Discover may be used at the Bookstore.

A good Study Bible is helpful. King James Version, New King James Version, English Standard Version, New American Standard Version, or Holman Christian Standard Version are recommended.

Music: Bring your musical instrument with you, if possible. These can be kept in the Music Building, and you can practice there. There will be ample opportunity throughout the year to use these, both in formal and informal settings. All students will attend sessions on building their life around biblical principles. It is recommended that students build such principles for entertainment.

Transportation: Cars and bikes are encouraged. Bikes should be equipped with a lock and chain. There is a one-time $50 registration fee for vehicles that can be paid at Opening Weekend Registration.

Miscellaneous Items: A small suitcase or travel bag is useful as students go out on weekend ministries. A laundry bag is helpful for making those necessary trips to the laundromat, which is located on the Bible Institute campus. Bows and arrows, hunting knives, and guns should be left at home. If it is necessary to bring any such item for a specific reason, they must be checked in and left at the Bible Institute Office.

FINANCES Large amounts of money should not be left in the dorms. There are no banking facilities on campus. However, there is an ATM located in the Café and the lobby of the Bollback Student Life Center. Glens Falls National Bank & Trust has offices in the Village of Schroon Lake (9 miles north) and Chestertown (6 miles south) where students may open a checking account. This will facilitate check cashing and money handling. SCHOOL BREAKS Vacation breaks are in December, March, and June. Final Official Transcript Notice New York Campus 2021-2022

Upon graduation, the Admissions Office will need your final official transcript from either your high school or homeschool organization. It is critical we receive your final official transcript in the mail before Registration which is Friday, September 10, 2021. Most students submit either a non-graduate transcript or a final unofficial transcript for acceptance. Non-graduate transcripts do not have a student’s complete 9th-12th final grades. A final unofficial transcript means it does consist of a student’s 9th-12th final grades, but it does not contain an ink signature or a raised school seal. If you submitted college transcripts for acceptance, we will need to receive your final official high school or homeschool transcripts to be enrolled as a student. These are the specific items that need to be on the final official transcript for high school and homeschool organizations: • There needs to be a final grade point average (GPA) or a grading scale if a GPA is not listed. • Graduation Date. • An ink signature or a raised seal from the school or organization. • If you are homeschooled, we need to receive your Homeschool Verification Form with an ink signature. Students who desire to transfer college credits to Word of Life Bible Institute should keep the following in mind: • Only coursework completed at a C average or better will be considered for transfer. • Students need to provide an original, official transcript from the institution where the coursework was completed and indicate a desire to transfer coursework before the day of registration. • Coursework earned at a non-accredited institution may be submitted for review with an original, official transcript and course descriptions from the institution where the coursework was completed.

Your financial aid is dependent upon your transcripts, so it is critical we receive them as soon as possible!

Please have your transcripts mailed to the following address: Word of Life Bible Institute

Admissions Department 4200 Glendale Rd. Pottersville, NY 12860 If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Department at: 1.800.331.9673 admissions@wol.org Or, contact your Admissions Counselor directly!
