In a presentation attended by several city and county officials, local military veterans and members of the Cullman Police Department and Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, R.E. Garrison Vice President of Driver Relations Shawn Nelson showed off a new Freightliner with a custom wrap that honors veterans

R.E. Garrison Trucking is showing its support for military veterans with a new truck that was officially added to its fleet recently. The truck features a red, white and blue color scheme, with images of the U.S. Constitution, military helicopters and jets in action, images of the graves of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice and decals recognizing each military branch.
Nelson said the company ordered 200 Freightliner trucks from Lonestar Truck Group, and worked with Jaylon Crump from Lonestar Graphics on a custom wrap for one that would honor the veterans in the community and across the country.
There are 150 people who work at the company’s Cullman campus and 700 drivers, and this is a way for those employees to show their support for the military and the people who served, Nelson said. “That’s 850 people who wanted to dedicate this truck to all of our veterans,” he said. “And we’re very thankful that the owners of R.E. Garrison allowed us to do this project.”
The truck will be driven by Mike May, who has been a driver for R.E. Garrison for 20 years and served in the U.S. Army as an MP from 1973-1976. Mike said, “Getting the keys to the truck was an honor”. “The truck honoring military veterans will not be the only R.E. Garrison truck featuring a special wrap”, Nelson said. “Several more special trucks are in the pipeline, including one honoring active duty military members and one for the Stephen K. Griffith Memorial Fund for Mental Health Awareness that the company recently established, and a few more that the community will enjoy. Quality Control can be as simple as having the truck looked over by a fellow or lead technician. Often overlooked items such as a loose hose clamp can be found and remedied preventing a costly downtime event.
IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING THE CHARGING SYSTEM AND BATTERIES
LEADING CAUSES OF CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE: 4 Dirty battery terminals or wire connections. 4 Corrosion build up on the terminals and connections. 4 Not keeping the batteries charged. 4 Premature failure of the alternator. 4 The alternator is designed to keep the batteries at a full charge but not to charge them up when dead. 4 A slipping belt can make the alternator undercharge the system, which will eventually kill the battery and damage the alternator.
