space and functioning bath. 78 The example of the Bath walking tours and the
restoration of the Victoria Baths reflects a continued interest in the function of these
heritage sites within their communities and even internationally, due to the
intervention of television productions.
This essay has presented the methods of site management developed over
years of productions, as well as how the links to literature, film or television have
been used to the benefit of sites. Through an extensive case study and
acknowledgement of wider forms of screen presentation, attraction has ultimately
been shown to be accentuated by the association. The influence these mediums can
have on the experience of the sites is to an extent, uncontrollable, but genuine
heritage can be maintained with appropriate management and attention to historical reality. 79 Physical conservation has been shown to be supported by the relationship,
both in terms of direct and indirect income. Whereas, the perceived value of certain
sites, have been enhanced by the awareness these mediums can provide. Despite
the negative considerations involved, the influence of literature, film or television is ever more inescapable. 80 With this in mind, the study has conclusively determined
that the increasingly mediatised relationship with site experience depends upon
effective management to maintain heritage integrity and value to visitors in the long term. 81
