three days and three nights had passed since the Lord met him, he had not come out and made a public confession of Him in baptism. This, however, he now did (cf. ch. 22:16). v. 19. “And when he had received meat, he was strengthened (And he took food and was strengthened). Then was Saul (And he was) certain days with the dis ciples which were at Damascus.” In the verses that follow " (verses 20 - 22 ) we áre told that Saul at once began to do what every man ought to do as soon as he is saved and Spirit-filled, .viz., he “proclaimed Jesus, that He is the Son o f God.” As he -had been filled with the Holy Spirit his testimony was effective. He succeeded in confounding the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving to a demonstration that Jesus was the Christ. OUTLINE Whose voice was it that spoke to Saul? 1 Cor. 15:8. “Jesus” (without any accompanying title), except in the Gospels. The reason why we read “Jesus” without any accompanyng title in the Gospels, is because they have to do with His earthly life (cf. 2 Cor. S~:16). W e should not speak o f Jesus merely, we should sjfgak o f Him as the Lord Jesus, or Jesus Christ, we should follow the Bible example. ' v. 18/ “And immediately (straightway) there fell from his eyes as it had been scales (as it were scales), and he received (add, his) sight forthwith (omit, forth with), and (add, he) arose) and was bap tized." Saul’s eyes were immediately opened. Seeing his Lord in the glory had blinded his eyes, but now the Lord opened his eyes and restored his\vision. And his Spiritual eyes were opened too.
