A whopping 136 entries, from 65 different companies were received from across the spectrum of BIFA Members with 11 companies entering for the first time. INDIVIDUAL CATEGORIES BIFA has been delighted with the interest shown by individuals and the increase in the number of entries received in the Apprentice of the Year (sponsored by Menzies LLP) and Young Freight Forwarder of the Year (sponsored by Virgin Atlantic Cargo) Awards which are, respectively, 25% and 50% higher than in 2022. For this reason, and to ensure o Noatum Logistics UK Ltd o Uniserve Holdings Limited that all entries receive the attention they deserve, the announcement of the finalists in the Apprentice of the Year and Young Freight Forwarder of the Year Awards will be delayed until early November. Selection of the finalists is always a mammoth task and, at disappointed not to make it to the next round, but now it is over to the final judging panels to determine the winners. A s we head into winter, it is all go behind the scenes as the entries to the 11 categories of the BIFA Awards reach the fi nishing straight and go before the sponsors for judging. Once the judges have made their decisions there is much to be done before the presentation of finalists and announcement of winners at the BIFA Freight Service Awards Ceremony at its traditional home of the Brewery. Certificates and trophies have to be commissioned, the ceremony presentations need to be planned and advertising and press-releases prepared. Last month we announced the celebrity speaker, sponsored by ASM (UK) Ltd, for the BIFA Awards ceremony on Thursday 18 January 2024, as Suzi Perry, motorsports enthusiast and TV presenter.
