Mac- Pherson Robertson, M.A. The purpose of the writer, in his own words, is that “ through these word pictures boys and girls may come to know and love the Bible and to read it for themselves. Above all, that they may come to know the Lord Jesus of whom the Bible speaks, and give their hearts to Him.” (Marshall Bros.) Board 1/6 net (75c).

freshness and reality to the characters and scenes around which they are woven.” (Revell) $2.00. Booklets The Bible Treasure Chest, a Treas ure Trove for Seekers after Bible Truth, profusely Illustrated with beau tiful half-tone engravings of famous pictures by the world’s great artists. Commended for teachers. (Oxford Press) 25c. A Plea for a Positive Evangel, by Alexander Stewart, D.D., address de livered at the opening of the Oeneral Assembly of the Free Church of Scot land, June 1, 1926. A strong, vital message in defense of the truth, and a warning of the dangers of Modern istic tendencies. Every loyal preacher will be stimulated by reading it. (Free Church Offices, Edinburgh) 25c. a Constitution, when Benjamin Frank lin, one of the wisest men of the Con stitutional Convention, arose and said in part, “ I have lived, sir, a long time; and the longer I live the more convinc ing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground Without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, sir, in the Sacred Writings, that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concur ring aid we shall succeed in this po litical building no better than the builders of Babel..........I therefore beg leave to move: That hereafter prayers, imploring the assistance of Heaven and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this assembly every morning before we proceed to business.” It is a historical fact that our Con stitution was modelel after the Consti tution of one of our large protestant churches. Chief Justice Tilghman said, “ The framers of the Constitution of the United States borrowed very much of the form of our Republic from the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland.” Human government is of Divine ori gin, proving that God Intended man to be under authority, but the govern ment that owes its existence to God must not do anything contrary to God’s will. The best citisen, the truest patriot, is the genuine Christian, for the prosperity of a nation depends upon the spirituality of a nation. The Christian citizen should be loyal to the institution of government as long as that institution does not demand that he violate the law of God (Acts 5:29, 40-42). The Christian citizen should live prayerfully (1 Tim. 2:1, 2 ). Should live peaceably (Rom. 12:18). Indus triously (Eph. 4:28). Truthfully (Eph. 4:25 ). Honestly (Eph. 4:28, f. c.; 1 These. 4:12). Lovingly (Rom. 13:8- 10). Soberly, righteously and godly (Titus 2: 11-15). For God’s glory (Col. 3:17).

The first qualification for those who would be spiritual and moral athletes is the new birth. The natural man is dead in trespasses and sin ■(Eph. 2: 1-3) and must have life. The life of God is imparted to men when they re ceive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ. As it is absolutely necessary that we have an abundant supply of pure fresh air for success in athletic activ ity, so it is necessary that we as Chris tians breathe the right atmosphere, that we live in the presence of God and hourly breathe the breath of heaven;
