CANADA POST’S SNAIL MAIL, GETTING A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE Effective January 14th, 2019, mailing a letter just got more expensive with the cost for an individual stamp for a standard letter up 5%, from $1.00 to $1.05, with other mail within the country increasing between 10 and 35 cents depending on the size of the letter. Don’t think you are getting a break if you are mailing a letter south of the border to the United States as they will increase between 7 and 20 cents, while overseas mail will increase an additional 15 to 20 cents to get your snail mail to its destination. Canada Post said the increases should generate $26 million a year in revenue for the postal service, of which $11 million will come from consumers and the remaining $15 million from small and medium-sized businesses. It is estimated that the new rates will cost the average Canadian household about 65 cents next year and the average cost for small businesses that use stamps to pay postage will be about $14.21.

VW’S STRATEGY SHIFTS TO GO AFTER TESLA

Volkswagen is changing its strategy from diesel engine vehicles to electric and intends to sell electric cars for less than 20,000 euros ($22,836 USD) which is more than $10,000 less than Tesla entry Model 3.

Rumor has it that Volkswagen will be converting three factories to make the Tesla rival as VW and other carmakers are struggling to adapt quickly enough to stringent rules introduced after the carmaker was found to have cheated diesel emissions tests.
