APPLE IS GIVING PATIENTS CONTROL OVER THEIR HEALTH, BUT IS IT TOO MUCH CONTROL The Apple Watch is the first mass-market product with an ECG, which lets consumers get a reading of their heart’s rhythm and potentially pick up on a type of arrhythmia called atrial fibrillation. That’s a big deal, but it also raises some concerns by medical professionals. While the device gives people more control over their health and better data on their conditions, many doctors are worried about incorrect data. That is, the Apple Watch may be wrong in some cases as can any technology, resulting in healthy people rushing unnecessarily to the emergency rooms or even worse not seeing a doctor at all when they should.

Health professionals are also concerned about misinformation, especially claims that the Apple Watch is saving lives.

The positive is that numerous health industry studies have found that patients are becoming more informed than ever, whether it’s through symptom searching on Google or accessing an ECG reading through their Apple Watch, which is changing the face of medicine and how the health care industry will care for patients.

SOON AMAZON WILL BE PARKING YOUR PACKAGES IN YOUR GARAGE In early 2019, Amazon will offer to deliver packages right into your garage, with its new service called Key for Garage, which will join Amazon’s other Key for Home and Key for Car services. Key for Garage, like Key for Home, requires some addi- tional hardware, such as an $80 Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Hub, which will let Amazon communicate with the users garage door opener so that it can be opened by an Amazon delivery person. You’ll also need an Amazon Prime subscription if you want packages delivered inside your garage, but you can still open the garage remotely from the Amazon Key app even if you’re not a Prime member. This service will be targeted to Prime members who didn’t like Key for Home which let Amazon into your house and requires a camera. There is more Key news from Amazon for business owners also, as Key for Business will provide drivers with smart key fobs that will allow them to drop packages off in commer- cial and residential areas where deliveries might otherwise have to be left at the door or in an unsafe location, reducing the possibility of theft.
