Clearly the number of dogs at any shows has reduced over the years, Bull Terriers are not exempt from that which is unfortunate but understandable. However, I think that many of us locally and overseas should continue to support and attend this special event which in many ways is different from the normal show format and its great fun too. The overall atmosphere as everyone sits around the table under the trees to eat is very special and one of great fun where the hospitality is second to none. It’s been interesting looking at the variety and differing types and quality of the dogs and bitches who have been shown here over the years. There have been some exceptional animals who have won here and looking at the results recently that continues to be the case. Many of the winners have been successful at other major events on the Continent and in the UK. It has always been a show I’ve thoroughly enjoyed travelling to. It’s my plan to continue to do that over the next few years to support the event, meeting some old friends and making new one’s who have a common interest and love of Bull Terriers !
Thoughts on Superbull
I ’ve been to the Superbull event now on three occasions, twice to judge and most recently to watch and enjoy the dogs and atmosphere. Superbull is a unique event, the combination of location, scenery and atmosphere I think make it truly special. The venue at Maison Rouge with the surrounding fields provides the perfect backdrop for this show. Many exhibitors camp or stay in their campervans or, as we did, stay at one of the nearby Gites with everyone getting together in the evenings to chat, compare stories and talk about dogs ; what a great combination. The work that goes into arranging and running the show is a real credit to the host Julie and the entire hard-working team who support her every year in making sure the event happens. Without them, I’m sure the show would not be viable. A very special thanks should go to them for their exceptional contribution.
